Walked the floor at the Wichita swap meet, looked at all the overpriced left over project parts, toured the car corral and was amazed at some of the cars sold and the insane prices paid, came home, found an offer in the email for my Mercury.

Am I seeing things, or is that a welded up door gap on the rear fender? Was that Chevy a sedan? If so, that is an extremely nice job. Looks like he added koop doors if he converted it from a sedan. Niiicccceee! [IMG]

  4. Painted the 15 inch wheels for the 48 merc 2-door on Saturday and Sunday worked on the wiring for the t-tub. Also checked out a few problems with the daughter's 65 Chevelle hardtop that I have to fix. All in all a good weekend. Would like to have done more, but still progress.

Got a surprising lot done considering the company staying over this weekend (gf's close friend's family), and that I've run out of lotsa supplies and won't have the bread 'til near payday. Despite no aircraft stripper, got alot of clean up on the skinned truck bed and rear fenders, and started fill work on the rear fenders. My real weekend's even closer to payday, should be better.

    bike post!
Messed with a couple of bikes and posted pics here. Also worked my job at Wallyworld, and got a hole in the sidewall on my truck's right rear. I was gonna go traveling today, but without a good tire....no trip. I aquired a pair of free larger tires and I have rims that they'll fit, but my buddy with the tire machine wasn't home. I may have to go have a shop mount them tomorrow.

Fixed up the front of the PU. Fabbed a new lower grill panel.Didnt have any to copy so I had to imagine, but it turned out OK. Also started to make a new lower right fender. The old one was junk, so I figured it would be easier to scratch build a new than to fix the old. Took some more time than I first thought tho.

I finally got around to grinding my first whitewall. It works great, but makes a heck of a mess. Smells nice though. I used an old JC Penny bias ply for practice.

Finally got a seat and door panels stitched up for my truck. Headliner and carpet come next! Also ordered new shocks and a dropped axle for it, so ask the same question next week and I'll have something to post!

We bought a new-to-us Coleman pop-up camper and brought it home on Saturday. Sunday I pulled the seats out of the 51, disassembled them and removed all the hog rings so my mom can get to work patterning and sewing my new snow leopard velvet interior in time for spring. I also removed my door sill plates and stretched the carpet so that the edge is finally under the sill. I also had to remove my hastily installed seatbelts and put them in on top of the carpet which was all bunched up around them prior to that.

As soon as I deliver the two paintings I've been recently commissioned to do, I'll have the cash I need to buy the front end stuff I need to do the swap to a mustang front end. I'm excited about rack and pinion and disc brakes! Having no power steering kinda sucks, especially when I gotta park in the city. We're also gonna do the 12 volt conversion and my Dad's gonna help me re-wire the whole car.

Sunday night I did a little striping practice which I'll show at the Friday art attack.

i actually got to work on my own stuff this weekend it was kinda nice. did bunch to the 50'. i finaly got the right water pump on it. its kinda funny what it took to make it work. 235 pump,2.5 chevy flange, and a pep boys chrome sbc pulley. cut the shaft down and fitted some ford fan o found and all is well. all so rebuilt a couple carbs and threw them on it. after spending most of saterday refabing the linkage to work right. mm what else.. new plugs oil change, and some freash coolent. got the blower motor working. but to my dismay i need to run a hotter stat so i can have heat. but that didnt stop me from putting 200 miles on it saterday night and sunday. next weekend i finaly dig into the biscayne!

(don't know what I'm going to do with them yet) Then went over to my barn and made it somewhat liveable, lotza stuff still in boxes, but at least there's room to move. all this stuff was in a 12x30 garage.

We took apart a shed roof that was 33 by 20 and hauled some to my friends, some to my place Saturday. thats on another post. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/TJJ/links.htm Sunday the 17 yr old kid came over and we worked on his 40 Ford pickup on a Ranger chassis. Pics of that when we have enough progress to show.
