Looking to install 1935 Lincoln type grille mesh in my 35 Ford grille. Anyone know where I can source something similar? Nothing at the big box stores. Didnt see anything at McMaster Carr. Thanks
I doubt you’ll find something exactly like that premade, but lookup architectural metal suppliers there are a lot of specialized metals available. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Any big truck shops near you? One of the local guys used the mesh from a Peterbilt grille in his 34Chev. Looks awesome. He was working at a bodyshop that worked on big trucks. Pulled a damaged one out of the metal bin for free.
A lot of the older big trucks had similar grill material. Years ago I cut the center out of an International big truck grill to fill a 1935-36 Willys grill shell. It was the same material pattern.
Yogi's has this. It's 24 wide by 34 tall. Used it in my 33 Chevy. https://www.yogisinc.com/YG-BLANK .bjb
I sort of like this stainless stuff, 'though I've never used it..... yet. It's a little pricy at $175 - $200.... maybe more if you want it on a 45*, the way I would prefer.
I agree. McMaster has it in stock but not @ 45°. It's welded so it won't come apart when I shape it. It probably the the way I'll go since it comes in lage enough panels.
I just punched 'perforated sheet metal' into google. This was the first one that came up, local to me. There would have to be similar near you. Try several suppliers because they don't all have the same stuff. https://queensland.meshstore.com.au/perforatedmetal/ Another: https://www.metalmesh.com.au/perforated-metal-sheets/
Those Peterbilt grills are nice looking but unless you have a buddy that can snag you one with a bit of damage that you can salvage it might take cashing in a gold chain or two to spring for a new one. Peterbilt 389 Rectangle Grill Insert By Lincoln Chrome - Raney's Truck Parts
I just bought some br*** wire mesh for an antique door project from a company called Darby out of Pennsylvania. They have a lot of mesh patterns and materials, might have something that would suit your project.
Shop I deal with $250, The question becomes, how many can they do for the minimum? Sell those and reduce your cost. No matter the cost, one has to examine options if one really needs it to get the job done
The Peterbilt grille seems like a good idea. Lots of damaged trucks out there. Sent from my SM-T350 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
