Hot Rod Works has a kit to convert an early Ford torque tube drive line into an open driveshaft that can be used with a later model trans. That way the old banjo rear end can be retained. Anyone done this conversion? Thanks, Rad
We have done 3 or 4 HRW open drive conversions. On our first one i could not get a decent pinion seal , constant leaks. Put it together exactly as they said . I decided to make a dummy seal from aluminium to help a positive alignment for the seal housing , fitted the dummy aluminium seal ,tightened the housing bolts, removed the dummy. Then lubed it up and slid the seal in , all work great now . We have also fitted the HRW slide in axle conversion in the same banjos, nice stuff. HRW have a top product.
I just converted a '40 rearend to open drive using the HRW kit. Quality product and easy installation. The 10% discount for Alliance members is nice too. Jim
