Want to put a chopped (2") windshield on my 30` roadster street rod. Where does anyone find the short windshield stanchions(posts) to fit the chopped windshield and smaller folding top? Speedway motors sells the top frame and chopped windshield but no short side posts.
    Thanks

Be careful, someone repops '32 roadster stanchions, they look like '30-'31s, but the inner cups are different...
if you have a standard w/s set up a deluxe will be chopped over an inch...

I made these from repro 29 posts cut off and welded to 30-31 stanchion. If I remember, they're 2" shorter.
Course they're one piece and painted.
I think Brookville makes them now.

Hey Richard I just went through this same challenge on my 31’ recently. I’m ***uming you’re talking Ford Roadster correct? I also chopped mine 2”. For some reason there doesn’t seem to be any options out there for the 30/31 stanchion. But there are plenty of people who make the 32 stanchion. Yeah I know you could cut and weld if you have the equipment and knowledge. I had read somewhere that the only difference between the 30/31 and a 32 stanchion is the size of the hole for the side mirror. And this seems to be true. I purchased a set of 2” chopped stanchions and it worked for me. Here are some pictures of mine minus the rubber moulding. Hope this helps and good luck.

  7. I, too have had many sets of 1930-31 upper stanchions, both the chrome plated steel early 1930 type, and the later stainless steel type. I also had many 1932 stainless upper stanchions. I have never seen a difference in the lower cups. Just get yourself a pair of chopped 1932 upper stanchions, and be done. I have chopped many original stanchions over the years, before reproductions were available. I used to cut the stanchions into 7 pieces so that when they were welded back together they looked like that is how they were made, not just cut and shortened as some were.

I just ordered a pair of shortened 32` from speedway. We`ll see how it goes!!! They also have the lowered top frame. Anyone have any input on the compatibility of this with the shortened windshield?
