Ok, this is not the place for pro street, I know this quite well. However I'm going to start the project in a few days. My goal is to use as many traditional styling cues and techniques as possible as well as some good old fashioned fab practices. if there's no objections I may post a thing or 2 of what it's headed for, focusing on the kool aspects vs the car as a whole, simply because it's not in keeping with the overall subject of the board. I just thought some of you might be interested. The best part of it is that it's going to pay for my truck project
do like that person did from new mexico did,,,take an out of style pro street 53 or 54 chevy ,,put white wall cheater slick under it and thow on a "WATSON BLESSED" paint job,,and you'll be in all the mags!
I slid a set of 335/35-17's on polished Torque Thrusts 17x11 under my 56 210 2dr hdtp. Maybe I'll get it done before I die.
That looks nice... I thought you were leading me to a post of a car with those 2 foot tall backward spinning ****ers... thank you.
Duke !!!!!!! Nice 57, that is the only why to do the seven model man, that's cool .....I look at that pic and think did it use to be yellow hahahaha love it
Pretty cool car, Duke. Man, those collector extensions are, well...LONG! I occasionally work on a 1962 Tempest drag car that is done up in early A/FX style, but low and tubbed. I'll post a pic for Highlander when I can get one from the owner.
OT ?.. Except for the front rims which will be replaced with 5 spokes, this 56 is being built with what I have in the parts pile. To me engineering/ fabbing a hotrod is the enjoyable part, driving the *** off of it when you're done is the iceing on the cake. I like your idea of focusing on the aspects of the build, traditional cues and fab practices can be applied to just about buildup. Keep on posting and hopefully this won't turn into a drama post .... Very cool PRO, I love the front end man, Im planning on adding a straight axle to mine this winter. Its sitting in the garage waiting Duke http://pic15.picturetrail.com/VOL610/3413303/11442344/165691551.jpg
Ok hambers, thanks for the support. The owner basically wants big tires and real low. My thought is to do some things to set it apart from the basic blown pro street tri 5. Some things will be just that for simple reasons and budget, but I plan to fab some trick custom tubs vs the "55gal drums" the ch***is suppliers sell, wanna swap the back bumper to a wagon version and smooth the deck lid, door handles gone, minimal roll cage, and as much vintage stuff as will fit the final look. All the safety stuff will be in place and it's a ladder bar rear from S&W. I figure some time this weekend to take a 1/2 dozen "before" pics. To start I'm "cheating" the wheelbase forward 2" for a couple reasons...1st being the wt transfer that results, and 2nd, makes it a real clean extension to the wheel openings by cutting out a nice large forward section, remove 2" ahead of that, then move it forward. The only fab is a small 2" strip over the center of the wheel opening and a lil forward on the tire in there looks better. OK, that's all for now, and thanks again for the positive feedback. This oughta be fun for a while.
This sounds like what I'm doing with my 41 truck, I have a mix of old and new going on that hopefully will melt together in the end. I love the 60's drag scene but also like a big tire on the rear, the marriage of the two is tricky. Keep us updated
