Visited the Petersen museum and drooled over James Hetfield's cars. The guy has a pretty good taste in cars (and a big wallet ).
Lots of rock stars go straight for the Lamborghinis, but James has excellent taste. Pretty fair guitar player too.... -Abone.
He's got way more than those. Some of his stuff is bare-bones. There are ones in-between, too. He gets hot rods. He's got a flamed fibergl*** T, with a beer keg gas tank, and a Speed Limit 55 sign, perforated by a shotgun, for a grille. He's still just a regular guy, if you are not being an annoying fanboy/girl. Still lives where he grew up. My first shop on the West Coast shared a wall with the shop where he gets many of his bikes built. That is owned by a good friend of his, since they were little kids.
Yeah he's got money, But he also has a fully equipped personal shop and is quite hands on with many of his projects. He is the kind of car guy we would all be if we had his money. DANGEROUS ! lol Larry
$ is cool, if you got it....... But a straight up guy, and if you rap with him, the fame is gone.....He's a gearhead, and knows his ****. Don't underestimate.......
Thanks For Sharing @kaspar...appreciating Vintage/Hotrod even in inspiration is a pleasure to see...Cool...Maybe he's a Hamber...Should Be...Paging James...
...An Artist shares his views...what we revere here...and it's a form of Art in Look and Innovation...and Incredibly Rewarding to Experience
For those of you that appreciate print, high quality photography, great cars and Metallica; you will enjoy this... @Ryan I have a feeling you will really appreciate this.
I saw somewhere recently he was in the process of reducing his collection. He has spread the wealth a**** a few of the top builders.
This exhibit was part of it. He permanently donated all these cars to the Petersen. Here is a video walk through of the collection.
The front wheels on the '36 5 window are not centered in the fender opening. They're 3 or so inches too far back. Sour g****? yeah, maybe
Hey, if ya got the wherewithal to do what he does with cars go for it - - I love looking at 'em - friend of mine is donating his low tech, no where near as prestigious, fairly well known from California " The Meteor" to The Petersen next week
Being that Hetfield is such a car guy, it's hard to believe Metallica only ever had one car song. If I were to have a radio in my hot rod and if Fuel were to play on it, I'd probably end up in jail.
So cool that this car is going to be donated to the Petersen Museum, its an important car, I remember seeing it when it was at FAMOSO at the CHRR a few years back.
