If you can weld, they're fairly easy to repair.

Not sure. They're back on the car now. Do you have an original to take dimensions off of?

  8. This is a “Newb” question, as I‘ve never built a car before. How do these attach to the car? Are they welded to the floor pan?

they were factory spot welded to floor and inner rocker panel

  10. So to remove them, you just drill out the old spot welds?

Yep, the floorpan is spot welded to the lip on top. Quite a few spot welds to drill. I hate to promote Harbor Freight but, get a couple of their $5 spot weld cutters. They actually work!
A few spot welds holding the floor brace to the inner rocker too. After 65 years, dirt and moisture tend to ac***ulate in the deep end of the brace which usually rots the inner rocker, which you'll have to repair with a patch panel.

If they are gone, I would suggest buying them from EMS if you can afford them, they are not cheap but made correctly and fit perfect, I made mine but at the time EMS wasn't reproducing them.

I do know that left and right sides are identical and you could possibly buy one and then fabricate the other. HRP

I used EMS for my 56 and it fit great. Way less work.
