I am looking for the vent windows (with or without the gl***) for a 1952 Ford or Mercury two door hardtop or convertible. They should be stainless and will be magnetic. The later ones, 53'-54',have the same appearance, but were pot-metal and not magnetic. The first pictures shows the part that will be stainless or pot-metal (the one in the picture, is pot-petal - the pitting usually gives it away), removed from the frame. The second picture shows the location of the part, in the first picture. The third picture shows a complete vent window and frame, that is stainless. Thank you, Roy Lange Conifer, CO royd13483@aol.com
Will 4-door vent windows work? This guy is parting out his '52 moredoor. 1952 parts car | The H.A.M.B. (jalopyjournal.com)
When you find a set, make sure the pivot's are in good shape, I purchased two sets for our Ranch Wagon and spent a bunch of money on bad parts, I finally located a new set of pivot's from C & G and repaired my own vents. HRP
Actually I don't need the vent windows, only the outer frames. I do have a back up set of pivots in the event I ever need them. I plan on using the vent windows from the ones on the car. All I really need is the large piece (see picture) on the outer frame. I could drill the rivets out on the one on the car, and use the new one, and just use new rivets to install it. I did take an old, one and sanded all the chrome off of it, and polished it. It came out better than I though it would. (see second picture). This was an old set I took off the car when I bought it, and replaced it with a better set, but they are pot-metal and not stainless. If push comes to shove, and I have no luck finding a stainless set, I could always take these off, sand off the chrome and polish and reinstall them.
My 52 has the pot metal ones, and they are original to the car, so just be aware that the stainless are rarer than hens teeth. I was under the impression that the SS ones were off later(53-54) years.
