Can anyone cross reference for me? So far I've not found a upper steering column bearing for my 56 Pontiac. Plenty for a Chevy. Pics looks similar but.........just wanted to check.
If you provide some pictures and dimensions of your Pontiac bearing, then I expect some of us Chevy guys could look and see if the match. I expect there are 20 chevy steering column experts per pontiac steering column expert... and I also seriously doubt they are the same.

Thanks. The wire is all frayed and I noted that on the Chevy bearing it all comes as one piece. I figured two birds with one stone. Worse case I can see about removing the bearing and replacing the wire and truth be known I'm not even sure I'm going to run a horn but just looking to take the easy route. I'll take it apart tomorrow.
The Chevy bearing/contact ***embly fits inside the tube, I think the tube ID is about 1-5/8 to 1-11/16 (the OD is 1-3/4 and it's a thin wall tube at the end). I don't have one apart here to measure exactly. But if the cast part is close to that ID, it might work, although the contact diameter will probably be smaller---the Chevy contact outer edge is even with the outer edge of the 1-3/4 tube.
