If you had a 28-29 and a 30-31 Ford Roadster rear fender side by side how do they differ. I know the runingboard notch differs, I'm talking about the shape looking from the rear. Just wondering if the 28-29's are more uniform on top, a 30-31 rolls down and into the body well as I see it. Bob

Ive always thought they were identical other than the running board notch.

I could be totally wrong tho.

I was looking at Dad's '31 and noticed the inside roll and wondered if the 28-29 was different. Bob :)

No they are not the same. The bottom of the rear part of the fender is longer and rolls back at the bottom on the 30-31. Plus the radius for the splash shield is not even close.

How about the difference between coupe fenders and truck or roadster fenders. Are they interchangeable

All three body styles use the same fenders 28-29 and 30-31, note how the splash apron notch differs in the above photos.Bob :)

    From what I have found over the years building Model A's and buying and selling parts that there are ;

    3 different 28-29 coupe roadster/ coupe/ pickup fenders, and 2 Different ones for 1930-1931

FOR; 1928-1929 coupe roadster/ coupe/ pickup rear fenders

    (1) 1928 AR "duck bill fender" it have a spash arpon notch cut out in the front and back of the fender

    (2) a rounded bottom rear edge fender

    (3) flat bottom edge rear edge

FOR; 1930-31 coupe roadster/ coupe/ pickup rear fenders

    (1) a rounded bottom rear edge fender

    (2) flat bottom edge rear edge

If you have the fender setting side by side it easy to see the differance, I have seen alot of "restored" car with mismatch rear fenders.

And Model A sedan rear fender are not all the same either

I'll see if I can find some pictures

    Later kb

The difference in front fenders is very visible but the rears always look very similar to me. I was reading how 28/29 fenders can go on 30/31s...
Is it the other way around as well? Can 30/31 go on 28/29??
And was 30 the only year of the 2 piece running board apron? Did 28/29 have one Piece as well?

I never could see the difference between 28-29 and 30-31 coupe fenders.

i still have them, if any doubts come on over...
