Installed new TCI 350 with torque converter. After 3 or 4 start ups I thought I spun a rod bearing. Come to find out the weight let loose on one end and was hitting bell housing. Has anyone weld them back when in the car, don't like having to pull transmission

I'd push or hammer it back in the same spot and weld it back in. Mark where the welds were and grind them off and weld them back on to the same size give or take

The weight is still attached on one end.

I have added them to converters that didn't have one. Just don't blow a hole through it when welding.

Lucky it was the trailing end that came loose.

Make sure you connect your welder ground lead directly to the flex plate or the torque converter. You don't want welding current to p*** through any bearings.

I would want TCI to make it right, no telling how that would go.

Called TCI , they said they would repair it , no charge if I send it back. How does one get the fluid drained from the converter so you can ship it?

I've heard some not so good things about TCI lately.

You can lay it down on it's flex plate side, stick a small hose in it and siphon out as much as you can. If it were me, I'd seal it up and ship it. Let them worry about draining it.

It's off warranty, over 90 days. They said if I send receipt with, they will repair.

Just get a good heavy plastic bag and tape it up good to contain any fluid left inside. If it happened to leak out the shipper might stop the shipment.
