My dad gave my son his old Rick, it needs a complete overhaul...everything. This bass has been everywhere and it shows but it’s a family heirloom and it’s staying here. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app

The guy on the left is the original owner of House Of Guitars, AFAIK, he was my partner when I owned a vintage guitar shop in Hollywood, once upon a time. His name is Howie Hubberman.
I used to be a professional musician, if you can call it that, lol. It was my job, though it didn't feel much like one! And yeah, I also had quite a stable of old and awesome guitars, but sold off most everything and nowadays I play upright bass and cello pretty much exclusively in an old time band, but I have a few acoustics laying around for porch pickin still. Got a nice Martin 000-18, and a nice parlor. Martin uke for goofing on. No more electric anything though. Here's a Pic of my 1965 Kay c-1 and 1954 Kay model 130 tho...
That pedal is a beauty. I had a Carter 10 bitd. One of the most difficult instruments to play IMHO...
I've got a 1968 Gibson Dreadnought my dad bought in a pawn shop in the 70's and an old fender stratocaster I bought out of the "Little Nickle" in 1993 for $150 bucks...I call, take all my saved up money and get my dad to take me to go get it. When we get there it is sitting with an original Ampeg Reverborocket tube amp. The original owner said he bought it in the late 50's and the amp stopped working in the 60's(blown tube) and had been in the garage ever since and that i can have it with the guitar if id like.
Almost finished building this. I always wanted a late fifties early sixties Strat, but could never afford one, so I built one! Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I'd love to be able to play the guitar but I have ZERO patience. If I picked one up and couldn't shred like Eddie Van Halen within five minutes I'd just move on to something else.
Not "Vintage" really but definitely from an era that's never coming back, my Meridian Mississippi made Peavey Detonator and Reactor, early 90's era.
Ttt This thread is getting lost. Anyone else with some cool old guitars? To me old hot rods and guitars just seem to go hand in hand. Post them up!
It sure seems like some of the guitar greats emerged from the womb able to play at a super high standard, don't it? Tough to believe sometimes but if you go back far enough in time, at some point Eddie really sucked. The difference though, is he stuck with it even when people were throwing stuff at him. Doc Watson - "I've often said I don't really have guitar hands, but I loved the doggone thing so much I just had to learn to pick some. Now that's a fact." Here he is playing a family get together, says he "been workin' on, a song written by Elizabeth Cotten, he may have even learned it from her personally, who knows. Check out the runs he plays though, in between the chords, when he has a mind to.
Here's a hot tune from *1951* and he's singin' about dual carbs and hot rods and outrunnin' the cops!! Dang Hoodlum, let me tell ya.
I have more neat stuff, just not vintage, so holding back pics.... It cracks me up to sometimes see a guitar from the 90s for sale, labeled 'vintage'... Lol. To me, vintage is pre-1980 at LEAST, and preferably 70s or later. I had a 65 lpj back when I was giggin for a livin, that was a sweet little axe...
Yeah, they don't seem vintage to me either. But I guess if you were a teenage guitar player you may think differently. Probably just a way to sell some guitars to them.
sometimes i play these others too .i used to carry the mustang to guitar lessons in 73 .j.h . .no case and a mile each way . dont know how it survived! its a 65 my dad bought used in 68 .if it could talk !!
68 Harmony Rocket my Dad bought new for me when I was born (in 68) Have had it my whole life. Plays great! Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
