I'm sure this is posted somewhere, but before I go purchase new ones, I was wondering if someone could tell me the difference between the Model A outside door handles (28-29) and (30-31)? Thanks, Jim
Only diff I recall is the simpler 'straight' form, or the more graceful 'scroll' type. (Might be called deluxe)
no sir, the bezel to beltline is flat on '28-'29s and has an arch on the '30-'31s... like the beltline... the '29 murray and briggs may have arched bezels...
From the Judging Standards: "Most 1928-1929 outside door handles were br*** clad and nickel plated. The 1928-30 Standard Briggs Fordor had thin die cast, scroll shaped , nickel plated handles until 1930 and chrome plated afterwards. They were thinner than the Murray Sedan handles until late 1930. Thereafter both used the wider metal clad type. All Cabriolets had wide scroll shaped handles. Most early 1930 cars had chrome plated, br*** clad handles. Later 1930-31 outside handles were stainless steel clad with stainless escutcheons , but some had chrome plated spacers and or escutcheons." Hope this helps.
