Hi. I’ve been a member of the H.A.M.B. for more than 15 years. I’ve learned a ton and have been inspired by hundreds of threads that I have read. I have owned a handful of ‘32 Fords over the years, but only one that I’ve ever been able to drive, a chopped and channeled 5 window. I have since dis***embled that one as I try to remove the rat rod features from it while giving it a safer suspension. I have used the H.A.M.B. primarily for the cl***ified ads, but now it seems I can’t respond to anyone’s cl***ified ads without having 10 posts. My aim is to post 10 times as soon as possible with the hope that I can buy 50bomb’s Desoto tail lights before they are gone. If I had more to add, I would add it. There is a reason I have been mostly silent for the last 15 years as I’ve enjoyed the H.A.M.B. Sorry if this post seems to be a waste of anyone’s time. I’m just trying to follow the rules. I’m not a scammer, just a hotrodder wanting to buy parts before they are gone.

Tell us more. Get those ten posts. Maybe some pictures of the ride, especially what you're changing....

Here are some pictures showing what I’ve changed or am in the process of changing. The car was built between 1951-1953 in the Cleveland, OH area. It had a 1940 front axle and suspension that shook like crazy at speeds of maybe 40 mph or more. I struggled to decide if I should leave the front suspension and work on the shake or swap it out for a more conventional 1932 axle and either split wishbones or stock wishbone. It was my opinion that the car looked awkward with the radiator mounted in front of the crossmember and the axle pushed back behind the crossmember. There was a huge space between the fan and the radiator, so I’m not so sure how helpful the fan was. I also removed the trailer fenders and Home Depot sweated copper tube Nerf bars from both the front and the rear.

Excellent. My first attempt at posting pictures includes an accidental picture not at all related to my car that I can’t seem to delete. Sorry everyone.

Here are some pictures after adding the Okie Joe dropped heavy axle and stock wishbone. Also, I guess I failed to mention I have a column shifted Lincoln overdrive. The car had a 1932 steering box that was super hard to turn. I swapped it out for an F1 box and found that the geometry of the column shift linkage interfered with my pedals. I solved this by making a 1” spacer for the base of the lower mount for the column rod. The column rod is no longer parallel with the steering column, but it all works. As a bonus, the F1 box ****ed my steering wheel up around 1” which is awesome because the steering wheel was previously riding up against my gonies.

After all this, it seems I missed the tail lights. They were posted for 12 minutes when I first saw them. It took a few hours to get up to my 10 posts so I could inquire about them. Dang. Looks like I’ll go back to lurking for another 15 years or so unless the minimum post requirement is raised.

  14. Wow. I certainly wouldn't go back to lurking with a car like that! How about starting a thread about it?

    Milner would be proud!

Thank you, Moriarity. I appreciate your help. Please don’t get the wrong idea about my preference to lurk. I recognize the vast knowledge and talent I see on this site. I have the love for the hobby, but not much to offer from a technical perspective. I make a far better student than teacher.

Is that front crossmember installed backwards? 180 degrees out or left on the right side? Just wondering. Bob
