Hot Rods Any NJ folks here with a street rod?

Hey all,

I just bought a 23 Ford roadster. It's not a T bucket, but it's not stock either. Still has full fenders, running boards but no hood, 302, new interior, cut down windshield, etc. I own two cl***ic cars which from the outside look stock, a 58 Dodge Coronet and 80 Corvette, both are registered as collector cars with QQ plates. The 23 however wouldn't fall within the NJ standards of a historic car and would fall under a street rod. Just wondering who here is in NJ with either an open wheel or hoodless car and how did you register it.

And I know for the folks outside of NJ this sounds like a dumb question but we got some strange laws here in Jersey.

I get regular plates on my cars. This way there's no driving restrictions. $40 a year isn't much to be able to drive when you want.

Oh yeah, it's going to be a blast to drive. Not that my Dodge and Vette aren't but I love the simplicity of this 23.

Honestly I've just read up what they list. Historic plates are only for unaltered cars, Street rod plates are for altered cars where the owner is a member of an NJ street rod club (i'm not). But as @custom_lettering suggested, regular plates might be fine and I think I'll probably go that way.

In MD it's gotta p*** inspection to get regular tags. No inspection for street rod tags...

 

I think that because of the age, even if I get regular tags in NJ I don't have to get it inspected.
