Haven't posted this as I've been building it, and we all know those threads that pop up with a whole bunch of pics are WAY better than the teaser "here's one pic of my future build" threads.

Quick overview of the rig--1946 Ford cab, 48 Stude bed, 400sbc, th350, Ford 8", Fad T tube front with the longest hairpins ever made, homemade frame, etc, etc. Basically, I looked around and said "I'm pretty sure I've got enough random **** to build a hot rod truck."

Without further ado, here's a pile of pics of the project so far. No, it's not a rat--scroll to the end, you'll see shiny paint and there's not a single cobweb or iron cross to be found. It's also not perfect--just building a solid driver that I don't have to worry about, and including the kids where possible. Shooting for a 60's vibe--it's not perfectly period correct, but I won't mention the new stuff.

That's where we are so far. Everything is plumbed, just on to wiring & interior. Could I have built it quicker? Absolutely. But I have no deadline, and bringing the kids along for the journey is far more important to me than getting it done asap. "If we don't have it done by Sunday, we're gonna lose the shop!"

Sweet! Looks like a fun project to share with your kids. I've gotta admit I've never seen a "paisley" roof treatment like that. Is that Rustoleum "royal blue"? Looks like the color I put on a '62 Studebaker I had...

Yep, you got it in one--Rusto Royal Blue. I'm building a driver and it's easy to touch up. I've already got another ride with fancy paint and it's a ***** to match--not doing that for something that will see weather.
The paisley? Well, I like lowriders too...

  9. Glad you've got the kids involved, as my daddy used to say, "being useful instead of ornamental." They are learning useful skills, and any time you teach a child anything you build a relationship with the child. By the way--if you want a hanging brake/clutch pedal, a '52-'56 Ford car pedal ***embly fits a '40-'47 truck cab like it was custom made for it.
