Been chasing this one for @ 5 years. Most of ya'll aren't into the FL years but there aren't many of these Virgil Exner models around any longer. Has so many options. Can't understand why its not a Polara.
Of course it’s a dodge, and of course it’s so friggin ugly it’s beautiful!!!!! What are your plans with it ?
I'm thinking WTF...the Matador wasn't introduced until 1971! I was expecting one of these... View attachment 5026444 ...I like YOUR'S a hell of a lot better
Exner really was " George Jetson ", he just went at it in a very unique way and this amazing MOPAR design is proof that chrome and tail fins were cool , and had a definite place in the space age!
I love this era of Mopar. They're under-rated by the custom car crowd but they're beloved in Europe for their intense styling.
You probably could take on a bull with those. That AC compressor looks like it could cool a supermarket.
It just dawned on me that the '71 Matador pic I posted above is OT. So, if the mods axe it...just visualize this as the replacement pic...
@oldwood I have always had a love affair with the '60 Matador/Polara! Never owned one, just admired them, but now they are so rare and expensive I am afraid that they will remain my lost love! Congratulations on your find... Ray
Love it...space age/forward look & ac to boot. I'd make a cruiser out of it & slap so 1967 Lancer caps on the wheels and "ride daddy ride"....
Just wicked....thats all I can say. Check out Cold War Motors on Youtube if you havent already, they would love to have this one I'd bet!
This is what Urban Dictionary has as the top definition of the word Dodge Humorous unless you own one. I like it. Nice score.
Ya know, when I was a kid, I thought 50-60’s dodge pus were ugly, even the early ones for the most part. Also thought post 56 Ford PUs were ugly. 40 plus years later I likem. The car in this thread has a look, you may not like and we all have opinions, but there’s a lot of cool factor in it. Plus, it won’t be another ‘32 with a SBC, or an A on deuce rails.
didn't say I don't like it. having owned a 61 dodge for 35 years or so I can say with certainty that these cars are funny looking and they take some getting used to. I can remember looking out the window the day after I bought mine and asking myself what the hell was I thinking?
That era of Mopars are an acquired taste... I love them! Lots of people have said I’m a little “different” though... Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
LMAO. It also means to avoid it...too late for that now dodge (dŏj) v. dodged, dodg·ing, dodg·es v.tr. 1. To avoid (a blow, for example) by moving or shifting quickly aside.
My dad bought a new, and blue 2 door H.T. in 1960, like this one. I remember lying on the package tray under that big rear window. It was so Cool at night! He traded it in 1963 for a new Dodge convertible. I think that the 60 was my favorite car, that he ever owned.
That thing rocks and should clean up well! I had the locally made version of the sedan , very few people would pick it as a Dodge, less knew that Chrysler Australia made them!
