I might be jumping the gun, but after you guys read this, you'll understand. This is a 'what did you get done this WEEK' post as apposed to weekend post. As some may know, my brother came out to my Ohio home from his Iowa home to help me get some tasks tackled on my coupe. Here's a list of what got accomplished. I first must say that John was doing much, (read as damn near everything!), of the work and I was doing my best to simply learn by watching an experienced gearhead do what he does best... Also keep in mind that John was out working in the heat and humidity while I was slaving away over a computer in my AC'ed home office. Yep, I couldn't even take time off to help him all day, I still had to earn a living! Swapped drum brakes from one rear axle to the existing axle, (just for the record, Ford 8.8 drum brakes fit Ford 8" flanges like a glove! That alone saved me hundreds!!!!) Front suspension aligned so the front shocks glide the way they're suppose to. Mounted shock mount headlight brackets and my brand new big-ass headlights. Rebuilt one of two Carter WCFB carbs off my dual quad set-up. These beasts were pretty cruddy. The second one is still soaking in vinegar and will prolly stay there until Monday. The next items were acomplished with some help from Redneck Smooth. RS came up from Cincy to help out and learn too. I think he got his gas money's worth - We swapped the TH700R out and dropped in the Saginaw tranny that John brought me. Measured, cut down, mocked up and installed my driveshaft. Placed the coupe body back on the chassis and cut out the rear floor so it would sit right on the frame with the new tube X-member. The amazing thing is that John got here Tuesday around noon and all this was done by 9PM last night!!!!! I think everyone needs a brother like John.
Well, if my parts show up today from Speedway, I'll have my brakes DONE! And the steering too. I also made my own alt brackets earlier in the week. If the weekend goes according to plan......I'll have the engine running.Vroom, Vroom, Vroom!!
I put the posies springs in last night, and drove my car for the first time in 2 months. then the headlihgts quit working and the ammeter started jumping around.
We're taking tomorrow off to hit the Nats and then it's back at on Sunday. I just picked up a brake and clutch pedal assembly today... Vance
I pulled the engine an tranny out of the Nash and started cleaning up the firewall. Getting ready for the 57 vintage Chevy. Paul
Put on front backingplates, brakes, cylinders, bearings, seals. made clutch linkage, mounted steering, master cylinder/clutch assy. all with the help of club members.. Just can't seem to get much done by myself. Try to think it out too much, afaid I'll screw it up. Hope to get it on it's own power by our show on the 9th of Sept.
Absolutely nothing! All kidding aside, Humbolt Cat came down from Eureka to So Cal to help me with the #265b A roadster, so I can get enthused about the prioject. We made templates for the rear kick up on the frame, they came out real nice & started to move some stuff that I have in the way. We worked on my 34 roadster a lil bit, I need to spend more time with her if I want to drive her to Bonneville. Missed my PRC meeting, due to Humbolt's Grad party. Today I think that we will drag the frame out & due some cutting. Got to retain the location for the rear x-member, so when I hack, I want to do it carefully. I don't want any one to be able to tell that this was done in the millenium. Good luck on your projects too, will look for a WDYGDTW thread next week also.
Drove the shit out of my Chevy I'm still just getting the little things put back together. Since the fuzz are out in full force, I put my parking lights back in. I'll be looking for a WDYGDTDW thread next week too...lots to do before Billetproof. Bryan
not a dod damn thing yet but i mihgt get the 2 x 3 finshed cutting and start welding this weekend jake
Fixed my brake lights......new pressure switch, new bulbs.....and took a ride Tuesday night......hot as hell here on the Jersey Shore......it's been in the high 90's all week with a heat index about 110........no fun! I'll be in the pool in about 15 minutes! Brucie
I managed to haul my cab to my house where I could get some work done. Egrets have taken over the yard where I had it stored and crapped on everything. My 28 truck cab was once welded shut and the hinges cut off. To make matters worse they had cut off the roof and did an ugly job of cutting the doors down. I capped the doors with some preformed metal studs that were of the right dimensions. I still have to finish some welding and cosmetics to them but I am pleased with the results. I have separated all of the pieces so I can make the doors open again. I found some gate hinges that don't look too badly out of place and managed to install these and hang my doors. I installed bear claw latches I rescued from a junk Capri I had. I am in the process today of building the previously non-existent door jambs and reinforcing everything. My goal is to have this a solid cab before September. I hope to have the door jambs done tonight and working on the floor framing tomorrow. In no particular order (because I can't seem to get them to appear in the order I wanted)...
This week I got a weld test done for a new job. haha The lady and I are having a baby, and I want to work closer to home, so I'm looking for something different. Found a place 5 miles or so away that fits the bill. Other than that, I got a start on sanding the 37 pickup, and a few other little things.
Aint done shit......... Went to cardiac rehab 3 times this week and rode the harley in every time > Wonder what people think when they see a full dress harley sittin in a reserved for cardiac rehab spot Been lookin for another project though. If I get the ok from the heart doc next tuesday ill be back to work and lookin for possibly an a roadster to build. And the wife oked it. It was her Idea ! Dave
Been trying to get the front end wrapped up on the '32 chassis. Putting my Buick brake drums on my new Lincoln brakes, decided it was an easier/better solution to order some of the Wilson hubs from vaphead. Got those coming. Got the brake lines run, ordered the new hoses. Next I plan on cleaning and painting the sbc that's going in it.
I got my '57 back from paint (looks awesome - heavy flake) and spent the week putting stuff back together in time to drive to OH this weekend for a friend's annual party. me and the guys from my club put the trim back on, brand new bumpers front and back (oh mama fresh chrome!), wired up stuff, new headliner is the only interior piece we got to. got some sweet pinstriping on last night by Kensey. tonight I got to give it the once over (fluids etc) for it's first time on the road in many many months. I'll post pics next week since I have no camera I'll get some friends to snap some this weekend.

Started on the project last friday night. Got my posies springs installed on the rear. The passenger side spindle is off and new ball joints have been installed. Next up are the TCI spindles and new brakes. I'm hoping this will be done this weekend. James
Cleaned the garage out so I could work better. Than I filled the holes in my dash, I'm trying to get the dash done. Worked on mocking up the seat supports( changed my mind 3 times). Then my wife got sick and I had to take care of her. Well back to work Mick p.s. I only have 1 more week before I have to go back to work
damn I feel bad, all I got done in this heat was watch TV........ well, I did do some wet sanding, tring to get off the flames on the door and pop the head lights out, to try and figure out how to put sealed beam units in........ maybe this weekend will bring mroe productivity
I got the Dodge all stripped out removed the doors, trunk lid all glass and all the body bolts removed. I started grinding the rust and went and got a van Top to use for the metal to make repairs and a new floor. I was lucky enough to find a pair of 1956 Olds Tail light lens for $12 a piece at the local wrecking yard and he even has a 1949 Kaiser Grill with some pitting and a small crack, for $30. but it is missing one head light door. I also got the fenders on the Tricycle I am building for my grandson and the steering is complete, I still have to fit the chain and take some photos to post. Gumpa
Wrapping up a good week in SoCal, working on some projects with Cyclone Kevin (pics coming soon), seeing some family, planning on moving back. Interviewed the guys @ Cook's Machine Works, Monday, for a book project on Cook's/Cyclone Engineering's history, been trying to get stuff done on our roadster project, but alot more's been done to make way in his backyard to set the frame & body, as well as working on his '34 roadster, meeting his friends, seeing some familiar places, seeing new buildings or lots in place of where the familiar places used to be. Took a break today, I asked him to suggest a place he really utmost digs, he gave me mysterious directions ("take a left, get on the 210... get in the #2 lane, take this out of Pasadena..."). Been borrowing Grandpa's Crown Vic., one of his rules was to keep it within a 25 mile radius (he's Grandpa, what can I say). Found ourselves cruising by the Bob's Big Boy in Burbank (pics coming soon). Great night, nice turn out for their Friday cruise-in! Happened to run into the auto shop teacher from his high school days, whom we were talking about the other day when going to the car show @ NHRA Museum. Just got back, figuring on what do to get done in the backyard late at night. Have to head back up to Humboldt tomorrow morning. What a week, though!
Well take out the trash everyday here in IRAQ...Would post my pics of the week,.. But might offend someone so I'll let you all H.A.M.Bers use your imagination. There is alot of trash here and I'm the trash man.
Rebuilding #2 caterpillar D399 v-16 main ship diesel engine......only have about $75,000 in it right now.......and another $35,000 in core parts...
Did a lot of drill in pinstriping and lettering. I'm practicing literally every chance I get. My goal is to participate in a Fund Raiser Panel Jam in a community about 40 miles from where I live. An auction will be held to sell off everything the "pinheads" do that day ,and donate the proceeds to a local High School. AS a PR gesture, I'll wear my HAMB T-shirt. I'm looking forward to the event this coming September. I need lots of practice!
Yanked an engine and trans and putting it away for an F1 project. Just need to haul in a carcass now.
