Posted in Customs by mistake, should have been posted in Traditional Hot Rods.

Interested in comments, viewpoints on pictured Rochester carb Air Cleaners from cosmetic, functional, traditional viewpoints.

Street rod is 29 chopped, channeled Model A with short block Chevy with all the goodies.

    Considering frog scoops.

    Thank you.

There has been some HP tests that show a dramatic loss in HP (up to 17hp) using those types of cleaners.
Not sure of your exact type?
    A little research maybe.

There’s been tons and tons of posts on this.

In summary if the air cleaner is the size of your fist it isn’t gonna work. Maybe for a lawn mower but a stromberg or other is going to get choked.

a frog mouth has zero filter so I’m not sure how that’s a functioning air cleaner but they do look cool

  4. The scoops will work better on this 3 pot, the opening should be facing the firewall to draw the most air, the folks here that face them toward the front don't realize that only the front carb is getting air the second two are seeing a very turbulent small amount of air. I do like the looks of those pictured if you get rid of those spikes and put the proper acorn nuts back on them and remove the screens.

I usually run short velocity stacks with bug screens from OTB Gear. I also have a trio of frog mouth scoops but I can open the hood with the stacks easier so they are my go to. Because I was running the frog mouths I had installed bug screens in the carbs, then when I added the small bug horns with screens (so 2 sets of bug screens) the performance was dramatically affected. I took the car back to the dyno for a tune and he found the superfluous screens and omitted them, problem solved. It is amazing how touchy the air flow can be through these little carbs.

Bandit, I'm looking for a trio of the aluminum Speedway type frog mouth scoops. Speedway has them on backorder, for who knows how long. If yours are like Speedway, would you be interested in selling them ? If so, let me know. or 817-500-8970 Thanks,
