We see more of our 50's Fords coming back to life and more guys loving the four doors these pictures from Facebook today tell part of that story. 300 mile trip ahead, drive safe.
my original 56 was a 4 door mainline. 375 HP 390 hauled ***. i have heard that the 4 door was 100 pounds lighter than the 2 door.
I like them. Easier to get people in and out and good for bringing home parts. I had a '66 Caprice 4-door HT with a 396, it hauled is an understatement.
Started driving in the 80s. 4 doors were definitely a Mom's car. However, remembering back to the 90s and having my so-called cool friends barf on me while trying to get them out of my so-called cool 2door car, along with being a Parent now myself, I actually prefer the 4door model of some cars.
Younger guys that were not born during the 50's & 60's have basically grown up around cheaper used Honda's & Toyota's have been exposed to 4 doors much more than my generation and are much more likely to but a 4 door 50's car. I grew up in the era when anyone was driving a 4 door it was considered to be their parents car. As I have gotten older my narrow minded at***ude about 4 doors has eased up a bit. HRP
This is an exceptional four door Kustom. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/my-54-customline-the-poison.929357/page-15
And now you see many older 4-doors being built - first because they were less expensive and easier to find. Now because its rare to find a 2 door that hasn't been built - or isn't priced over the moon.
Yeah, my youngest son had a 69 Fairlane 2dr hardtop, but now he has three kids under 4 years old and the car seats became a pain, so he sold the Fairlane and found a 4dr 62 Chrysler New Yorker. Now the grandkids have the experience of riding in an old car.
Back in the 70's and 80's every the 2dr posts weren't particularly cool. A 2dr HT was the best thing to be seen in.
