Hello all! I stumbled on here about 6 months ago while doing research on a Hemi powered 1940 Willy's g***er named VITAMIN C that ran at Quaker City Dragway in Salem Ohio in the 60's. My uncle, a mechanic at Frederick Dodge, was somehow involved with helping on the car and invited my Dad and me to meet him at the track. Let me tell you, a bright orange, roaring mechanical beast with Snoopy dressed in his Red Baron gear painted on the side was more than little me could take. I bothered everyone to let me rid in the car. They agreed to let me ride in the chase truck and I took that offer but kept pushing for a ride in the Willy's. Dad opened the door and showed me there was only 1 seat. I quickly pointed out that I was short and agile and could hang on the roll bar. That was the last day little David was allowed in the pits. I never saw the car again but in a CRAZY twist of fate ( I will tell that story sometime) I inherited some of the few pictures of that beautiful orange monster and found the same picture posted on THE HAMB. That started me looking around at all the vintage pictures of old g***ers, front engine rails, altereds, all the fire breathing beasts from my childhood gathered here! I started saving pictures to my "ART IDEAS" file, then I started reading the build threads. Talented craftsmen fabbing their own parts, building their own cars and sharing YEARS of ac***ulated knowledge. I actually joined today so that I could hit the LIKE ****on on some of these masterful builds. I would also like to tap into the collective knowledge to try an identify some of the photos that I have used for my artwork to make sure that they aren't copyrighted. Thanks for reading. Below is an airbrushed 11"x14" canvas that I just finished
