John, the lines on that truck look very proportionate, lower it and some stelies and it would look great. HRP

Extended cab old trucks just should not built in my opinion. It screws up the proportions. The only thing I’ve seen that look good is right thru the middle of the cab and extend the doors but at that it might only get a few extra inches in the cab.

I'm not crazy about the crew cabs, even the ones that were factory built like the '60's Dodge & Fords but some of these one off builds that the builder streched the cab look pretty good. HRP

  8. Danny, that's probably because the one-offs were built with more form than function in mind, whereas the "factory" built ones were more to meet a need :D

  9. Yup, they were simply crew haulers

That was the reason I didn't extend the cab on my 39 Dodge truck, I even had another cab here at the time. I just didn't see any way to make it look right to me. I built the truck because I liked the body style, if I extended the cab, I figured it would kill the truck proportions and then it wouldn't be the body I liked to begin with.

I built the standard cab, then I had to sell the truck because it was too small for me. At least I didn't destroy the truck by screwing up the proportions. The new owner loves the truck. Gene

Also not a big fan of the extended unless it is done through the middle. But, these guys sure did some awesome work on the ones in this thread!

  12. Right. It is super tough to get the proportions right on one. I have all the parts to copy the DeHeras Model A I posted but phonebooth A's just look so good in their natural state.

I believe this is a gl*** truck cab built by Thoroughbred Coach Builders in Florida. The owner p***ed away a number of years ago and the business closed.

Custom trucks being one of my other auto interests, i've always appreciated a well done crew cab conversion, though there are alot that i've seen that dont work as well as others, lots of places for lines and proportions to really go wrong.

An extended cab that i saw up in Maine when i was buying some seats for my coupe from the owner

  27. Not fond of the streetrod treatments, but the basic body proportions are nice on that 27/28 Chevrolet, Blake 27!

No pics, but bought some parts from a fellow in the early 90’s, he had a TF truck he’d extended the cab on, like a 1/2 cab. Damn it looked nice. He also had a TF with 4wd conversion MH? I don’t recall. Cant recall the town, but somewhere west of Sacramento, kinda Bay Area-ish. Town will come to me after post this, mercy.

I bring it up to see if anyone recalls the guy?
