Just in case anyone cares, they do have Moselle maroon on the books in bc/cc now. I had them fax it to my local paint vendor for their files.

Has anyone else had success with computer matching? My 56 Ford is a code H Platinum gray. I love the color on the firewall under the front fender that never saw daylight. It's a pale gray that is almost an off white. When I look up the color on a chip or the above paint site, it looks more like battleship gray.

Does the computer operator/mixer have an affect on the outcome? I had a friend mix up a sample based on the code (no computer) It was OK but not the same. I'm wondering if it just searches the known paints to find the closest match.

I always thought that the color matching for spot repair was the magical art of the mixer/painter.

I've never had any luck with selecting chips, getting the paint codes off of modern cars or using the antique codes. I wanted Corvette Buckskin and get F'n yellow!

I'm not that over picky ***hole either. I've had trouble every time in the last 30 years so it's not just one incompetent mixer. The last time I selected a fleet green chip after taking it out into the sunlight to be sure. It wasn't even close. He kept dumping black into it until it got in the ballpark but I feel snake bit and paranoid. This **** costs too much for something close. I want what Henry put on it in 1956.

Most but not all of my troubles have been with Dupont. Does each company have a proprietary computer system or are they all pretty much the same?

I'm really paranoid about getting the right color. I've never had any luck.

I remember being on some website a while ago looking for just the same thing...... Washington Blue..... and got frustrated because every year from '32 up to late 30's seemed to have it's own variation. Each formula was different too..... like one was measured in fractions of an ounce, and the next was parts per pigment, and another was done by weight.

I'd like a paint code or formula that I could take to the paint store and have the pimply faced boy behind the counter be able to mix me the right '32 looking Washingon Blue that I can see hints of on the inside edges of my 3w's door in a single stage urethane.

Anyone know what the interior color codes are for a '36? All I can find are exterior codes.

I’m trying to find out if my 1948 F1 was originally painted this seafoam green color, or if it was a repaint. I bought the truck 25yrs ago and have went over the entire body to find signs of a different color, but the only thing I can find the dash was painted black over the seafoam green. I can’t find a color chart that has my color until 1953. Can someone tell me if it was possible to have bought a seafoam green truck in 1948. The previous owner stated that his father bought it new in Kansas and never stated a repaint. That was also 25 years ago and I was about 14. 413007EC-1372-4506-A9B8-F0FF1C0B5E49.jpg
