    hey guys,

one of the old timers that i work with raced a willys back 60's and 70's called Quicksand II. it was a 41 coupe with an injected 409 BBC. his home track was oswego dragstrip in illinois. they ran a midwest circuit.

he was wondering whatever happened to the car. i'm hoping someone on the hamb might have some info about it. he is going to try and dig up some pics from back in the day.

    thanks for your help

  2. My dad spent many weekends at Oswego racing and taking some pics along the way. Unfortunently most of his pictures were lost in a flood. This is one of the few slides to make it. I hope this is the car your looking for.

great pic. it is very similar to the one i am asking about, but i believe his said Quicksand II on the side. he said it was gold colored and the interior was done in that gold flake material. i am going to print this and show it to him.

    anybody else have any memories??

    thanks,
    mike

just got off the phone with my buddy. this IS his old willys. it said "the harders bros" or at one point "harders & duff" on the door and Quicksand II on the rear fender. he was partners with a guy by the name of hank harders out of chicago. after they split their partnership he thinks the car was sold to somebody down south. he said he never really saw it at the midwest tracks anymore.

does anybody have any more info as to the whereabouts of this gasser or hank harders.

he's trying to dig up some old photos. any info will be greatly appreciated.

What are the odds, roughly 5 hours after your post you get :
"My dad spent many weekends at Oswego racing and taking some pics along the way. Unfortunently most of his pictures were lost in a flood. This is one of the few slides to make it. I hope this is the car your looking for."

And it is the car sought.

Damb, the Hamb continues to amaze me.....

  8. Very cool car. It's cool to see what the rest of the car looked like after having such a small glimps from my dads slide. Hopefully someone will be able to come up with a lead to where its currently hiding.

isn't that the truth. my buddy that used to own this car is in his 70's. he is still building hot rods and riding harleys. he was shocked when i showed him that pic and that somebody out there actually remembers the car. he always talked about this car and that is why i am trying to track it down.

hopefully some of the folks from chicago will remember seeing this car, either at the track or at one of the local car shows.

It took me the better part of ten years to find only a small bit of history on my coupe posted in my album. Very lucky very quickly. I hope that car surfaces for you too.

dnovarro, i am sorry to hear about the loss of your father. i didnt know your father personally, but i felt like i did just by listening to my buddy's stories. jim is getting up there in age also. he talks about this car all the time. i'm just trying to track it down for him, sort of a favor, for an old timer that i have a lot of respect for. any info you can provide will be greatly apprectiated.

  19. I recently found these newer pictures of Quicksand II on the Oswego drag raceway facebook page. Maybe newer pictures will help with some new leads.

  23. I know they haven't been here in sometime, but if they were to come back, this might get their attention.
