Need some help with the iden***y of a straight 6 that is in what I was told is a 55 3100 frame. It is a short wheelbase frame and is a GMC block. I don’t know anything about these other than they liked to eat a lot of gas but were torquing things. Thank you for any help.

Tag says it’s a 248” but looking at the flat spot where the distributor goes will prove it with the first 3 numbers. The shorter stroke crank is good if it had 6 bolts which a 55 should have with a hydramatic. Tin work is all the same for 228-302’s. Head will be a small intake port open chamber, possibly the smaller chamber if not cracked sellable, along with the hydramatic. The smaller chamber head on a 270 is great on the street with the right intake and port/valve work.

3100 is a chevy truck model number, and that's a GMC frame...the front crossmember is different than the Chevy version.

I would really like to run a Hydro transmission of a hot rod, but being that any hot rod I would build has to be right hand drive in order to get registered out here, the starter solenoid would be right in the way of the either the steering column, the brake and clutch pedals, or both
