    Hi MO...

A little trip down memory lane for me today though very belated.... Thanks for posting! Just a small correction and a couple of comments about my custom Ford for anyone who may be interested......

My name is Terry Corp (Not Thorp, a common error)

The car, a '56 Fairlane Sedan by the way, was first customized for me by Bill Cushenbery (it was being done in his Seaside, CA shop at the same time he was building his "El Matador", Gene Boucher's 56 Ford "Silhouette" and Tony Cardoza's "Exodous" '59 Chevy. My Ford, as seen in the earlier pictures, was painted Candy Burgandy by Al Thompkins...

The later customization was achieved through a number of custom car friends including Gary Calvert (390 Ford engine), Steve Coelho, (Metalflake and white pearl paint) and several outstanding pro customizers at the time who contributed their expertise to the finished product.

I traded the car straight across for a '62 Corvette in 1965. I've never saw it again or have any idea what happened to it. It was last heard to be in Sacramento in 1965.... I've attempted to add a couple of pictures depicting a more accurate color of the car.... Hope they show....

IMO this is the perfect trim solution for a '55-56. I did almost exactly the same on my '56 Fairlane Victoria, shown in posts #6 & #63.

Thanks. It's actually a '56 with '55 grille and trim.

  19. I've always been much more partial to the '56 Fords, the '55s always struck me as a bit too 'plain' with their skimpier side trim and smaller grill, particularly compared to their GM/Mopar rivals. Ford apparently agreed, as they added multiple trim options to the Mainline with bright trim around the front and back glass and side trim. The Customline got more than just a narrow straight piece down the side with the added accent dip plus a few options, and the Fairlane trim got much more prominent. Plus a far better-looking dash in '56 IMO.

But I will say that if you're planning on custom changes, the '55 present fewer issues in most cases.

    Love 55-56-57-58-59 and beyond
.....had one a million years ago.. A beat up Y-block that just would die and a fast coat of flat paint, lowered it and drove it daily from spring to late fall.

    it was fun.
