Wow, just saw this thread!!

I actually used that coupe as a format for mine, just love the lines and sinister looks... I'm 6'-2" so I couldn't chop mine that much.

Very much enjoyed this thread. Have been fascinated with Doug's coupe since I saw the picture of him racing Dawson Hadley at Pomona. Pretty sure the hot rod shop on Fair Oaks and Montana still exists at 2065 Fair Oaks 91103, it is a lawn mower shop today.

 

It's funny to me that this is a car I've always idolized and to see him open and close the doors... They're all wonky, and don't line up... I love it..
It's a stark contrast to the nicest cars today where everything works like a Honda.

Visited ElMirage for my 69th birthday from Texas and these cars stood out to me as a “lakes racer”.

 

isn't that Chrisman's service on Willowbrook and El Segundo in Compton? If it is, Willowbrook lumber should be in the background.
