Hi, I'm looing for infos about headers/manifold that can fit a french flathead in a stock 1932 frame. Also, everything is stock : I use steady rods, stock wishbone, mechanical brakes, steering box, 1939 trans. I tried a 59ab manifold, but even without gasket, manifold and steering are in contact. The engine in pics is a crusty 59 used only for mock-up. Some people recommand Red headers. What about the economy one from Speedway ? What did you fit on yours ? Pics will be very helpful. Thanks.
I have Red's on my French block, stock frame... but using a vega box and there is a special part # for vega application.
Stock '32 to '36 exhaust manifold should fit without interference to the steering box. The exhaust will exit near the front.
You can see in my roaster topic how I solved that problem last week. 130usd headers, few hours working with one primary tube. Then You have good headers, looks better than those lowprice "centerdump" models. Aulis
Here's mine. Identical to yours. 32 frame, 59AB, 34 box (same as 32, bolt pattern reversed). Stock exh. manifold of unknown year. Stock pedals. Uncut wishbones. Should have plenty of room. What is your front motor mount? Stock location fore and aft?
I have stock 32 front mount. My engine sit a little bit lower than yours. The mounts of the 8RT waterpumps are under the top of the frame rails.
I bought the cheap Speedway headers. Everything fit except the tube by the steering box. I bolted the stock right side manifold to the left side header as a weld fixture and then cut and repositioned the pipe. They worked just fine. This was in a stock 32 frame and steering box with a flathead mounted on original mounts.
Thanks Andy, that’s a good tip ! Do you have a pic from under ? I suppose your main left tube is straight ?
Mart is using Red headers and his engine sit a little bit higher than mine. I was looking for something cheaper. I’ve order economy ones on eBay.
