I was out searching for old tin, and found this field by pure luck. It can't be seen from the road. I stopped at the farm house to ask who owned some property down the road with two '67-'68 Barracudas in an old garage. Nobody answered the door, so I walked around the side of the house to see if anyone was out back. I peeked over the fence, and saw this. I called the guy and went back later to check it out. We're buying 5 or 6 cars, plus some extra parts.
whoa. Its a shame to see those just sitting there...rotting away. I would like to have that grill out of the plymouth...(green and white one)
The '56 Plymouths are what I wanted. He won't sell any of them. He says he's going to build the 2dr hardtop, and wants to keep the others for parts donors until he's done. We'll see...
Tell him to eat a bowl of donkey dicks!! I hate these old fuckers that are sitting on all these rides and not doing a fuckin thing with them (but collecting more and letting all are precious metal rot) and when a motivated young guy comes along, he says he's gonna build it or restore it.......Yeah fuckin right! because you can come back ten years later and the same car is sitting there only too far gone to fix. Aint that a bitch! I get that all the time!
Sometimes it makes sense to know what you're talking about before you open your mouth. The guy that owns these cars is younger than I am (His parents died recently) and honestly wants to fix up the '56 Plymouth two-door hardtop. He made us a deal on the stuff he sold us, and treated us great. So eat a bowl of donkey dicks yourself, kid.
By chance, did that old Virgil Exner Valiant, (the white one without the hood), still have an engine, and if so, might it be an aluminum block? Roger
He says it's an aluminum block slant six, and it's in the trunk of one of the other cars. I hope he's right. That is one of the cars I'm buying. BTW, it also has a four speed in it.
********************************************* Well, SHOOT!! I guess me getting my paws on it is out of the question, then. Good luck, Animal. Roger
Easy, action. Nobdy owes you anything. If someone doesn't wanna sell you a car, leave him alone and go find another. Animal: great find! Thanks for the pics!
Great pics.....those early cudas are a all time favorite of mine...gasser style! the back glass on those Cudas are $$$$$$$. that 56 plymouth would make a killer custom Great pics and thanks for sharing.
Shit! Somebody was gonna give me two of them back-glasses and I didn't take them because I didn't have a place to store them.
is that the style with The tail Lights on The Rear Quarter Panell and the deep dished Grille. very cool style for sure!!!
I was told those back windows aren't worth all that much. For one reason, they're damn near indestructible supposedly, guys have had them out and whacked them and not broken them. There are plenty of guys with cars they're perfectly willing to sell - myself included - if you look a little. If someone tells you no, just file it away and come back in a few years. I know where a 39 Buick coupe has been sitting since I was 16 years old... the grey primer is starting to turn into brown rust.. thinking I will drop by and ask if they want to sell it, again, one of these days -
You can see it's ugly little nose in the very first photo. Guy sure was trying to corner the market on those fishbowl Barracudas...
Man the other day i saw a few oldeis sitting in some guys back 40. Middle of urban sprawl, least likely place to find a good "barn find". Wouldnt sell but i talked to him for hours. I think if you cant buy em may as well get some cool stories from the guy and have a good time! Awsome find there, and best of luck with that iron!
Heck, I can find at least two up here. But I asked around and was told not to bother - unless I want to build a display case out of one. Coulda had a whacked '68 or so Cuda ragtop, too, was dumb to pass that one up. I've seen a few of the 64-5 style Valiants go to scrap, glass and all, this year.
That '54 Pontiac grille is worth some good $, wouldn't mind having that. Sounds like this guy is pretty cool for selling you what you wanted. If you can, after you pick up what you want, help him move that two door hardtop and maybe the parts car indoors so they don't get rusty, and line the other cars up nice, preferably on concrete or gravel, to stave off rust. Hate to see anything go to waste. Does his four door Plymouth parts car have a good windshield? I need one (just like everyone else) and I have a good replacement but it's for a hardtop. Figured I'd ask.
Well, he didn't exactly sell us what we wanted. I wanted the '56 Plymouths more than the rest. He wouldn't sell any of them, but I talked him out of a windshield for mine (Sorry, Squablow ). We're still talking to him about the Pontiac. While we're out there with a loader (with forks on the bucket) we'll put the cars he keeps on blocks or something.
