Man! Great pics, how many hours did you spend looking through the view finder? You took pictures of more cars than I looked at! Thanks!

This T-bucket, never made it home. Apparently ChevyGirlRox was thrown from the car when the driveline locked up, doing 70mph. She did survive the crash.

Let's all send some get well cards when the address gets posted.

Shit! can't seem to upload the picture, but it was the baby blue T-bucket w/ tan frame, at beginning of this thread.

I appreciate that, and I really have no problem with anyone making a nice profit on their stuff -Hell, I try it myself occasionally.

But when an offer of roughly 90% of the asking price won't buy a part I think a swap meet is the wrong place to try and sell it. If I gotta have a firm price on something, I put that right on the price.

A few months back I made an old guy what I felt was a reasonable offer on the top piece of a Tokhiem gas pump. He gave me a dirty look, took it out of my hand and tossed it on the ground. I guess he forgot where he'd put it because a half hour later he backed over it with his truck and smooshed it. :D

Regardless, the Louisville show was great and I'll be back next year.

We had a great time this past weekend. We made the trip without the first problem. I did learn a few things about my car that can be improved or need slight adjustments. For the first time the car was on the interstate I could not have asked for beeter results. I met allot of good people and seen allot of cool cars. I went to my first HAMB meet and it was cool to talk to everyone I met in person. I took a few pictures and I will try to get some posted soon.

It was great to drive my car in this year after buying the body there three years ago.

I hate to hear about the accident involving HAMB people it is fortunate that they are doing OK. Glad no one was seriously hurt.

3 hot days and only ONE clean shirt.......I bet you smelled good;) :D
Not sure if you stopped by the meet and greet on Friday or Saturday, there were so many folks there it was hard to meet everyone and keep the names straight, but if this type of situation ever happens to you or anyone else again remember you can always find the RRT BBQ trailer for friendly RRT and HAMB folks that always have food, drinks and other necessities.

I was GREAT to see so many folks at the Meet and Greet both Friday and Saturday. I was floored how many new people were there. I was glad to meet everyone and tried to mingle as much as possible. Sorry if I didn't get a chance to meet you. I took alot of photos during the M & G and will post when I get home tonight.

We had a real nice time at the BBQ place on Friday nite and afterwards at Stevie Rays. If anyone is into blues, Stevie Rays on Main Street in downtown L'ville is the place to be.

On Saturday evening we hung out cruzn around and stopping to chat with pals until we got kicked out of the fairgrounds by the police at 10pm. First time ever that I've stayed that late at the fairgrounds there. It was quite pleasent and very relaxing not rushing around in bumper to bumper traffic.

Afterwards we hung out with a bunch of the "He-Man Garage" posse and the BSM's in the hotel parking lot. Good fun and good joke and story telling. Both nites I was planning on an early turn in time to catch up on some sleep. Didn't happen. The way my summer is going looks like I'll be able to get a good nites sleep in Oct after the HCP.:D

Groups shot and other photos will be posted later tonight I guess.

I agree. If someone was offering only 10% less we'd be dickering just to dicker but I wouldn't let the sale go because of it. As far as him being insulted that's his problem not your's. I feel that dickering back and forth is part of swap meet selling and buying.

I saw old friends, made some new ones, drank some beer, did some shots.

I saw a dude that was a cross between Wolverine and Don Dokken.

A lot of hot chicks too!

    Good Times!

Made it home about six this morning man what a long drive. Got stopped by an NSRA official while cruising around sunday morning not having a clue what he wanted. People need to check the super prize board because someone passed up a free grant steering wheel and mounting adapter and he was giving out unclaimed super prizes and he hooked me up.

  18. I don't want to get into this again like a past thread.....but.....

if you're going to ask an enormously stupid amount of money for your stuff based on what the cost of setting up at a big event like this is.......expect to load most of it right back on the truck Sunday. There are cost involved in everything you do. Did anybody notice that gas was in the 2.89 range until the street rodders started rolling into town? Then it jumped to 3.15 per gallon. That will make the locals hate to see this show come to town in a hurry!!! One of the other guys said he didn't price his items. Instead he based his price on what he thought that person could afford. Thanks for the warning to both of you. I'll turn right around, when I see stupid prices or none at all, and spend my money somewhere else!

Here's a good example.......this guy loaded most of this overpriced stuff right back on the truck!

I didn't say I agree with it, I just pointed out how much it costs to swap there. As far as someone not marking a price on things, just going by what it looked like the buyer could pay is for the birds. I price my stuff when I sell and everyone sees the same price. I also don't like dealing with someone who doesn't price their stuff for that very reason. As for costs involved in everything you do, that's right, but remember where you sometimes get those needed parts and if the seller didn't find them you wouldn't have them. As far as the gas prices going up, that's an every week thing around here. Up .25-.30 a gal one day and down .05 the next or maybe even the same day.

  21. Like I said before......again.......I am not going to get into this swap meet deal......this was not pointed at you only people who conduct themselves in such a manner......or something to that effect.

    Sorry for the mix-up....

BTW......I do find those needed parts myself.......it saves me a ton of money that way. I have sold parts before. I do understand both sides......too an extent...

This is the fourth big show I've gone to with a swap meet and the third time I had someone who HAS some of the garnish moldings for a '34 5W tell me that there are no more left in the world. However, this guy did say he could put me in contact with a guy who had a full set for $1200. For that kind of bank, he better come over and prep, paint and install them for me. After I pointed out that if this guy had a full set and the ass-clown I was talking to also had some of the parts I was looking for, there ARE some left in the world, he backed up and said 'well they're getting hard to find’. I politely told him to stop lying to people and get over himself. I actually told this guy to his face that I hate people like him.

I tried to buy a stock Chevy clutch fork from a guy who had about 8 of them and got treated like I was at AutoZone as far as him wanting to know what motor I had in what car. He was stuck on $20. I told him I could prolly get a new part from AutoZone and he started into the 'then go there' routine. So I did... $15.95, with a warrantee.

I understand profitability as well as most. But at some point you gotta face the truth that if you go there with 100 parts and have to pay $150 to get in, selling 75 of those parts for less then what you have them overpriced at is gonna look a whole lot better on ANY cash flow chart then pacing up those 75 parts and taking them home. Each year they do this, it makes them more bitter and harder to bargain with. When are they ever gonna get this?

On a more positive note, I had a good time. Saw a lot of nice cars and scratched my head a couple times too. Met some new HAMBers and saw some that I already knew. Bought some parts inside from REAL vendors and got good prices on them. And I got to hear about my brother getting his ass kicked by Boyd Cottington too. But that’s his story; I’m not stealing his thunder.

    OK, what's the story here?

I saw that at the swap, and tried to find out the deal.

I suppose this was the truck that Jim was parting out?

Who bought it? Who has it now?

  27. That's the body I had in the classifieds not long ago. Knoxville to Louisville was my leg of the relay to Continental John.

I got offered twice what he paid on my way in with it.

this swap meet thing is really pretty simple, just like at the grocery store. if you see something that you are interested in and the price is moere than you want to pay, just keep on walking. that way no one gets upset.
