I need help identifying a SW Tach. I think it is factory for something GM. I thought chevelle knee knocker but it is not. Any help would be appreciated. Thank You
It's a Stewart Warner pedestal style. #970 is a 8 grand, somebody will probably know the correct number
I don’t think it is GM. I also don’t think it is a Stuart Warner. SW was proud of their **** and would have marked it all up. Dixon or Dixco maybe? Try opening it up and see if it says anything inside.
Thanks to uncleandy65 what I have is a Stewart Warner Pedestal Style Tach. I also found out the model number is 990B and I need a transmitter to make it work. Thanks to all who responded. Hamb people are the best.
It looks like a SW 970 pedistal tach. The ignition module used seems to be based on this chart: https://picclick.com/NOS-Stewart-Wa...Pedestal-Tach-353348998994.html#&gid=1&pid=11
I acquired a used S/W tach similar to this one in the 70's, I recall it having a slightly more modern face/sweep layout than this one, and by my memory, the main body had a slightly sleeker look to it and I thought it was so beautiful I kept it for years. At the time I didn't know it required a sender, it sure was hard to throw it in the garbage.
I think the Best to find Old Tack's are at a Boat place That are getting rid of old boat's & they have some good ones Thats were I got mind from I got the whole Dash from one with a Sun Super Tack & a bunch of German guages. Just my 3.5 cents Live Learn & Die a Fool
Here is a group of devices to help add new uses to an old tach: https://www.technoversions.com/TachMatch.html
Never heard of them, and they're just right up I-5 a little ways North in Arlington, Wa from me. Also, Arlington Airport is where the Arlington Drag Strip used to be until 1968. Thanks for that link. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.
