If you adjust all the slop, biased in the same direction, when you attach the return springs (two), the current linkage looseness should not be noticable. Just make sure, like I said, that the looseness is"biased" in the same direction. That is, when the opening load is on the vertical arm, that the pins in each carburetor are pushing on each carburetor EQUALLY, at the "exact" same time. Additionally, the return springs should go on the linkage that attached to the carburetors. NOT the pedal part of the linkage. If you want a small load on the gas pedal too, put a lighter spring on the linkage that attaches to the pedal arm of the linkage. You can also buy bushings that go into the larger diameter opening on the carburetor arm that make the linkage nice and snug. As in...NO slop/looseness. You still need to adjust any looseness biased in the same direction. Mike

Looks pretty basic now, so not too late to change. I prefer heim ends on my throttle linkage just for this reason....it eliminates slop. I put solid threaded posts on the carbs, and bolt the heim ends to the carbs so they can pivot instead of having to be sloppy in the carb linkage. Most decent hardware stores carry 10-32 heim ends, or if you want even beefier you could go 1/4-28 heim ends. I order them on the internet for less cost than hardware stores. Then make up my own rods by threading them once cut to length. The heim ends give adjustment on both ends, so plenty of adjustment to make it all fit well. And the whole setup just looks cooler when done.

Two heims in the big holes attached with brass inserts and a standard Lokar throttle cable hooked to the rear carb just as if it was a single 4 barrel If you don't have room at the firewall then move the throttle cable up to the front carb.
