History Images of vintage gas stations ~ pre 65

A few more from Down Under. The last photo has a number of Holden,Falcon and Zephyr taxis lined up.

 

The top pic is from the late 70's at the earliest. JW

 

The first two are of our family's station, 1956 and 1959. I believe the third was from the Yakima, WA area. The station in the first photos was originally a Rainbow location also. Hope these pre-65 photos are acceptable to every one here.

 

More Aussie. Apparently in the last photo the reference to Americans was for the US serviceman who were in Australia to compare with US price. Picture from 1944 with war still on and petrol rationing in
effect. Check the girls at the Total with the big hair.

I like the exhaust tucked into the bumper on the mid fifties Buick. Was that factory or custom?

 

Thinking factory, I Know Cadillac had them, Ford Thunder 57 and other cars I'm sure, believe it was a popular styling item in 50's
