Great time at the Jalopy Showdown Saturday. The weather was great, turnout great and just getting out and being with friends and great cars made for a fantastic day. For a few more photos, you can find them here: https://www.facebook.com/media/set?vanity=oldlinerscc&set=a.4072416059470541
Thanks buddy. Boy I must say your photo coverage on the f/b link is incredible. As good as going, true hod rod show in every way with very few if any street rods to be seen. Coverage of all the roundy round racing excellent as well. Mucho thanks.
WHOA that is a BUNCH of photos you put on facebook. Lots of not your standard builds a lot of different makes and models you don't see much. Nice job.
..............That was one of the special things about this event over the years, you never knew just what you might get to see. It will be missed.
I went to my first Jalopy Showdown in 2008 and knew that I would be back and so it became an annual event for me and many others. It grew year over year until they had to move from Latimore Valley Fairgrounds to Lincoln Speedway back in 2018. Larry posted this on their FB: " This year will be Jalopy Showdown #18!...and the last. We have also already done our last Jalopy Showdown Drags. If you ever thought you had to get to the show and never have here is you last shot at it! When we started this show there were kinda two shows on the east coast, the Road Agents show and Furry's Hot Rod Hoedown. Black primered cars were looked down on and not wanted at a lot of shows. Almost twenty years later there are now traditional hot rod shows, beach races, hill climbs, dirt drags, and vintage drag racing EVERYWHERE!! It just seems like a good time to step back and stay busy with my real work, new projects, and just not have that month of worry before the show and throwing up the morning of. I know I do it to myself, but that is just the way I am. I see the show happening a certain way and worry if it doesn't. I know I cant change the weather but it is not any easier watching the week before... Soooo, The Last Showdown, Lincoln Speedway May 2021 We left things on good terms with Mike at Beaver Springs and I believe he will be doing something similar on our fall date but please follow his schedule to see whats up. Kim and I will not be involved in his program. Also some of the people at EMMR expressed interest in continuing a similar show and I believe Lincoln Speedway may be available for the date but once again other then showing up, paying my ten buck and running my race car, that will be my only involvement. As alway I have to thank our friends that have volunteered all these years to make the show happen! Also to all of you that have always shown up rain or shine to support us. It has been a lot more shine but even the ****pest of weather cant keep you crazy people away! Lastly I just want to let the vendors know that we will be limiting them to 2 spaces to be sure to get as many in as possible. Also we will be parking as many cars as tightly and in as many spots as we can to get everyone in for the last show. There, I finally did it! Your pal Larry" We will miss them but looks like hope for someone to continue with an event at Lincoln.
