Hey everyone. I have to get my wrists worked on and decided to start the process of selling my 53. It just sits. I have no idea about what to ask for her. Anyone able to shed some light? I won’t be able to mess with it for at least 6 months so I’d rather just do it this way. Any help is appreciated I don’t want to ask too much or too little.

Here’s the ad I wrote up:

    1953 Ford Customline

    DISCLAIMERS:
I don't need your help selling this car but we can make a deal if you’re serious about buying it.
I won't fall for your Nigerian check scheme.
    I don't 'need' the money.
Please check with your wife, girlfriend or parents about any financial obligations.

    FACTS:
You can see the car by appointment.
You will drive the car if you're a serious buyer.
You won't drive the car if you can't drive a manual transmission.

I'm putting my 1953 Customline Hot Rod up for consideration. I have major wrist and elbow issues and I don't get to enjoy this car as much as I want to. I'd rather someone else take her instead of just sitting in my garage. Everything works (turn signals, wipers, blower, all gauges, all lights, radio, etc) and she runs and drives well. Stops very well too, thanks to the front disc brake conversion. Three speed manual shifts well. Careful with the gas while you shift, she barks with the 351W. She sounds great thanks to her brand new dual exhaust from the manifolds back with twin Flowmasters. At least you won't slide off of the bench seats because I had three-point seat belts installed. It even has a working gas gauge with a new float (which is normal to me but is usually broken on cl***ic cars).

All the windows on this car roll down on the Customline trim level, and the vent windows open easily because they were rebuilt and the lifters lubricated with white lithium grease. All of the weather stripping was replaced. The vent ducting is all new, and the blower works. Windshield wipers are new and the motor works well. Don't drive it in the rain though...That's rude to do.

She boasts shaved door handles with remote poppers. They work very, very well. There is a hidden emergency ****on in case you lock yourself out while the windows are up and the car is running. She is covered in metallic black cherry paint that is in decent condition. The weather stripping is new as are the window felts, and vent window rubber.

EVERYONE knows that a bench seat is better than bucket seats. If you don't know why, ask your parents. A custom console with tach, door entry lights and cup holders (with two sizes!) are aft of the vintage Hurst shifter so that you can carry some refreshments with you.

I added rear speakers and a dual speaker setup in front where the original single speaker was.

A GPS speedometer keeps you aware of how fast you're going. I've had her up to 85 on 295 safely cruising, and she won't go past 185 degrees with the new aluminum radiator and fan/clutch setup. I think it's partly due to the custom one off polished aluminum fan shroud.

People behind you will like the blue dot tail lights and will appreciate the third brake light in the license plate mount. You can better see people in front of you because of the H4 headlight conversion which is made extra awesome because of the modern relay. If you're unfamiliar, the H4 conversion allows you to change the bulb instead of finding a whole new gl*** ***embly. It's also brighter. The rear bumper on these cars is apparantly hard to find and it took a trip to a s**** yard in Minnesota to rectify that. I do have the front and back 'teeth' that came off of them.

Every wire on the car is wrapped with traditional wire wrap and most are hidden with a lot of attention to detail...I don't like sloppy wiring. Every connection is soldered. I don't trust crimp-style connectors.

Also have a clean and clear NJ ***le in my name.

Seems to be very thorough and detailed. Looks like a nice build. One suggestion is to get people to see it driving. If you cannot drive it maybe have a friend drive you around to cruise nights and maybe a few shows. I have found both of the last few we have sold were because we drove them someplace and it was seen there with a sign.

Good idea. I have some driving videos that I’d probably upload. There are some local shows I can make it to around here before I get my (human)bodywork done.

That's a really nice looking '53. I'm sure you will have no trouble selling it. What grill is on it? I didn't see mention of it in your post.

Thank you! It’s a shortened 1959 Ford grille. Fairlane I believe.
