    Hello all:

I recently purchased a new trunk lid seal for my '53 from one of these restoration sites what will remain nameless, but after putting it on, there is a decent gap between the seal and the lip of the trunk, which was definitely not there prior to the seal replacement. The new seal is noticeably smaller, but even though the website claimed it was the same size as stock... regardless, does anyone recommend a place to find the proper sized trunk lid seal?

    Thanks.

If you told us where you bought the bad seal, we could eliminate them. Carpenter and Drake are the usual suppliers for something like this. other suppliers C & G Ford parts, Third Gen Auto, Green Sales, Early Ford V8 Sales, Gotham Auto Parts.

Where did you put the seal - it is supposed to go on the lid itself

A large percentage of rubber seals sold from Ford aftermarket sites will end up being Dennis Carpenter since his son took over they are buying more offshore rather than making the product here and in many cases the quality has suffered for made in the USA seals you should shop here: https://www.steelerubber.com/
