I have all these little projects I want to tackle on the grumpy old man here, but I've been so wrapped up in work lately I just don't have the time to like I used to. This weekend saw a few hours opportunity to head out into the garage and I jumped on it like Tom Cruise at an Oprah's-couch convention.

I do get to peruse through here and caught @Paul 's thread on the cool little T he's building. In there he addresses the generator bracket and easily just throws it together. It was the inspiration I needed. I now knew how to get rid of the little forklift alternator that has served me well.

So you can see here there's that little alt tucked up right in front of the block and still present generator mounts on the exhaust manifold. Bye Felicia!

Inspired by @Paul I went ahead and cut into some angle stock I had totally bought for something else but can't remember what. Naturally I cut in the middle so as to waste as much as possible and make it twice as hard on myself.

So with the magic of the internet and some very lucky, accurate guessing, the random holes I drilled lined up perfectly. I also had this square aluminu...aluminiu..alumminu... T6 stock that I was able to polish a little and put threadie-holes in so I could finish this off and mount this bad boy.

Oh and of course the only sliding bracket I had was I think the stock Caddy one, and it was insanely long and straight (insert Peter North joke here) ((insert "insert" joke here)). So I had to cut it, bend it, yell at it, ask it to consider the choices it's making in this world. So now it works flawlessly as a bracket but feels oddly guilty about doing so, right where I need it.

So anyway. New part on, old part off. I even got to play with wire and fire! I'll find some way to incorporate a tiny piece of upholstery somehow.

Now to put a deep clean on his royal ass and hope that TX has a not-rainy day anytime soon.

Thanks @Paul for the random inspiration and your car is looking awesome man! :D

    Go hot rods!!

Looks good, and that's probably a really good position for generator cooling as well. The alternator didn't go well with the otherwise period parts on the motor, I like this new setup.

  6. I always wondered how a driver could monitor a gauge(s) mounted on the firewall but then I spied your hinged windshield ... ;)

I would have a difficult time if someone forced me to pick a favorite between your actual project, or your superior sense of humor, so suffice it to say, thanks for both!
