To answer 6sally6 question, the 3" frame stretch is done to bring the Model "A" frame to the same engine compartment length as a deuce, and hence, the wheelbase, 106" as opposed to the "A"s 103 1/2" . I have found the 3" stretch to work nicely in putting the flathead right up to the firewall but not requiring any loss of interior space. I stretched my '31 the same length and it takes the Pontiac just as well. The added wheelbase makes a noticeable difference on the open road, not so much around town. I'm convinced Pa. spaces their tar strips to exactly to make an "A" hit both wheels at the same time... Obviously chassis setup is critical but they do run true and handle well for just a simple mod. I keep some sections of "A" rails around the shop and add a formed splice plate inside prior to boxing to do the mod. I've seen older frames that have been just stick welded and not boxed that have survived for years that way. This is not an original thought as it was common right after the war, at least on the East coast. The sweep Z in the front was championed by Doane Spencer on his '32 and is used to this day, usually along with a "Rolling Bones type frontend", by most notably Bob Bleed to get that "just right" stance. It is almost not there unless you know to look for it. The whole idea is to give some of the advantages of '32 rails while still maintaining the traditional "A" frame look. Rustees car just "sets" perfect in my opinion, and although it does not have any road time yet as we finish up some last details, it will drive like a go cart on steroids.

Got to see all the work being done on this build and others today. Koz is not only a talented hot rod builder but a great guy to be around. He let me try the coupe on for size. Cant wait till he chops my '30 Coupe. It is better than porn!
