need some tips,or suggestions on how to adjust my hood. 40 Ford coupe mostly off center at the nose, off to the left side.
First, make sure that your hinges are not worn to th point that the hood will not hold alignment. Then put a couple of layers of masking tape along the edges of the fenders and hood if you care about possible paint loss. Then loosen the hood bolts just enough to adjust the hood slightly. Move the hood in the required direction in small incriments and tighten the bolts and test fit. Repeat as neccessary. Also make sure your fenders and grill are in propper alignment.
Take out your latch and make adjustments, then install latch, and adjust it. Other than that, cant help much without pictures, or at least more info. How's the fit at the cowl?
if the hood fits nice at the cowl, then the hood is not misaligned, the fenders/radiator support are.
what squirrel said.. make sure the hood fits the cowl nice, then align eveything to the hood.,and if it gets to frustrating you can just give the car to mee..
thanks for all the tips. the hood fits like **** at the cowl high on the left side and out on the right side. the fenders and the outter part of the grille have been welded and molded all in,way back in the day.(Barris) before it arrived at my shop. so does that mean Iam S.O.L. ?
Like squirrel said, fit to the cowl and go from there. Your not screwed, but you may have some cutting and welding to do if they welded things together in the wrong pos***ion. It's just metal!
