    1961 Ford Thunderflite Concept
    design-dautore: 1961 Ford Thunderflite Concept (designdautore.blogspot.com)
Looking like a full-size version of a vintage AMT model kit, the Thunderflite concept car is the brainchild of noted custom builder Dean Arnold, who performed more than a thousand modifications to a 1961 Ford Thunderbird to produce one of the most successful “pro-circuit” customs ever. Instantly recognizable thanks to its power-operated double-bubble canopy, House of Kolor “Chrome Effects” paint and sweeping tailfins, the Thunderflite draws its inspiration from the futuristic prototypes of the Fifties and Sixties.

Years later, I used to stop at the Big Donut on Manchester on my way to work at Herb Hansen Chevron Service. I don’t know how I drove my chopped ‘33 5w with a four speed with a large hot chocolate and a************ in my lap. No cup holders in those days!
These days I wonder how a small local donut chain could afford the design and custom construction of those iconic Big Donut outlets. Gotta sell a lot of donuts to pay the mortgage on those buildings.

  20. What gets me is all the work that's put into these cars, and they can't make the*****ing hood or trunk stay up by themselves.
