Hi all....I am much more into old jeeps and willys 4wd than anything else (active member of forums earlycj5.com and oldwillysforum.com), but a year and half ago I picked up a 1958 Willys Wagon 4wd with a 1957 sbc283 swap and thus I found myself having to learn about something new.

Probably hard to believe, but this is the first sbc that I have ever owned or driven. Anyway, over the last couple years I've frequented this forum reading up on all things sbc....and learned that while most of the casual car guys always tell me sbc's are the best and everything is interchangeable and so on - its not when it comes to the very early small blocks. As sometimes happen, I thought I bought a better, more driveable project, but after fighting the tired sbc283, and some issues with how the swap was done into the willys, and some other limitations, the willys is getting a basic rebuilt 1978 sbc350 and sm465 that is adapted to the OEM willys D18 transfer case....maybe one day it'll be a good driver.

At least when I need a break from the 58, I can always enjoy my cj5 - it has the OEM Buick Dauntless odd-fire v6 if that gives it any hotrod cred? Yea, probably not...

Anyway, thank for letting me silently poach all the sbc knowledge. Maybe this is poor form, but I have some stuff to post in the cl***ifieds. I know it is kind of frowned upon on many forums when you first join, but I am not a professional vendor or parts flipper or anything - just a jeeper that doesn't need a bunch of sbc parts that might just be wanted by someone else looking for some thing specific and maybe less common than all the other sbc stuff out there. And then again, maybe its just junk.....thanks!
