Like so many of you I am a collector or anything old and interesting. This winter when it was to cold to work outside, I found myself down in my ba*****t restoring antique fishing reels. I’m not really what you’d call a serious fisherman, but it’s pretty fun to get anything old and broken working again. image.jpg

  2. What really makes it fun is ro restore old gear...then actually go out and catch some fish with it.

  3. I made an antique style fishing pole a couple years ago. Bamboo rod, maple handle. I made the eyes out of copper wire.

Took this one out the past couple weeks. It’s a Wright and McGill Green Hornet (early 60s?) and a Shakespeare reel from about the same era... so it’s period correct. The rod still has a price tag on it! It’s an oddball reel, but once I got used to casting it, it’s a lot of fun to use. Got three nice trout on it so far.
