I know that there arent alot of traditional rods crusing but the numbers do seem to keep growing every year. Anybody going from the Hamb? I did see the post about the "broken dream cruise" but I dont get there until the following Tuesday.
Yes, there will be lots of HAMB folks on Woodward Ave during the cruz. In fact, there will be lots of us out there all week long. Look for "us" around 13 1/2 Mile Rd at either the Shell station or the Red Coat Tavern across from Dugans. Big Olds will also be in the Berkley parade Friday nite that goes west on 12 Mile from the cemetary at the corner of 12 and Woodward. About 700 cars in it.
i'll be there with a few buddies (non hamb cars) but if you see a young punk in a milner shirt say hello
Cool, I usually hang out (park) at the Northwoods shopping center Tues thru Thurs. I dont have the 61 road ready enough to make the trip from Milwaukee to Detroit, I drive a dark green 65 Galaxie with a teardrop hood and Im bald , fat and funny looking so if you see me......run the other way
That shopping center is where I have a "reserved" spot for Saturday with my folks's car club. Look for America's Most Wanted Car Club and you should find my purple '47 Olds convert or my folks black and silver '56 Olds. We will be walking in that area as well. Around lunch time we can be found across Woodward at the Chicken Shack. Roadstar's club, Michigan Hot Rod ***oc, also has spots at the same Northwoods Shopping Center so we might be found around them as well.
Well, Ill keep an eye out. We rent the north lot of the Arbys pretty much right across from the Chicken Shack, most of our guys are into the drag stuff, early 60s to 1970, all Blue Oval but we dont discriminate, if someone wants to rent a spot, if ones available, and their in a GM or Mopar their welcome, but they go to the back of the lot
I would like to go but the Plymouth is getting hot in traffic latley. And that is no place for a car with a weak cooling system.
Hate to be the dumb*** Michigander here, but will someone please post the date of the Woodward Cruise and any other pertinent info they may have?- I'm gonna try and make it this year for the 1st time. THANKYAVERRYMUCH
Guys here is the official website. I went back in 2000 with my 3 brothers. Going again this year. Hey does anyone know what the crowd is like on Friday????????? I am driving up from Nashville to my hometown of Fort Wayne, Indiana on Wednesday the 16th. I was thinking about going over on the 18th by myself to enjoy myself. Then going back over Saturday with my 3 brothers. http://www.woodwarddreamcruise.com/
I'll be there. I'll be the one goof ball with air bags down and trying to go slower than everyone else
Friday nite is just like Sat...with a few thousand less Hondas & ****boxes... you can actually cruise if you get there around 4-5.. CC
PM ME! If anyone needs a place to crash for a few hours (I can't put you up all night unfortunately) I'm not too far off Woodward. My house is about a 5 min. drive up 11 mile rd. to Woodward, or a 1/2 hour (brisk) walk. Let me know (PM ME!) if you need a secure place to park; in my neighborhood, it won't be a problem...except for the walk (cab!). mercman
I will be there with my blue 29 Ford coupe and my son with our bagged 67 Chevy pick-up. We leave central Michigan Friday morning and get to Woodward by early afternoon. We don't have a place to park so cruise alot and park where we can. We stay at the Courtyard by Marriott on Opydike Rd. It's less than 2 miles from Woodward and pretty cheap. Give me a wave or something if you see us.
I'll be there tuesday thru friday, but I'll probably go up to Back to the Bricks in Flint on Saturday... But Looking forward to tuesday through friday, most likely in and around the Shell station!!!
I'll be out there starting next weekend, hell maybe even this weekend, probably at the Shell Station at about 13 1/2 Mile Rd . It's fun out there every weekend the whole month of August. The week of the cruise it's good every night up until about Wednesday night. Last year Thursday through Saturday it was a freaking parking lot after 5:00 and the cops kicked us out at 10:00 every night. Gus
MercMan1951 or anyone, Got a question for you if I am coming from Fort Wayne, Indiana on US 24 thru Toledo, Ohio what is best way to get to the Cruise? I think when I came in 2000. I got off at 10 mile road off (I-75????) and went west. Anyhelp would be appreciated. Also are there anyplaces that are heavily Ford powered? Thanks
Tacson, When I drove up, I went I-75 until I crossed 8 Mile Rd. (You'll go p*** Detroit and turn back out into the suburbs North), then head SW on 8 mile, a mile or two until you hit Woodward, then go NW. That's pretty much the South end of the cruise activities and keeps you off the streets you don't want to be on to a minimum. Or you could continue on I-75 until you get to about 12 or 13 mile road and do the same, I-75 runs almost parallel to Woodward just past Detroit.
Appreciate it. I will take these directions with me. I am going to come up on Friday and look around by myself then come back with my brothers on Saturday. Thanks again. Any good junkyards in the area? I am always looking!!!
Check out the cruisers picture on the WDC website http://woodwarddreamcruise.com/. It is our very own Rudy piloting Big Olds with Denise on the back doing her best royalty wave!!! You guys are everywhere!!
Hey sweetheart! You guys gonna be at your usual sport there at Uncle Ed's?? Got room for Big Olds to pull in when we cruz by??? Sure would like to stop and say "hi".
Hey Denise,Of course we will have room for the Big Olds! I am currently putting the final touches on this year's event. Same location and setup as last year, but with a few improvements (cacklefest?!?!?) Just look for the TIMKEN banners. As we get closer to the date I might be able to open up some parking spots for HAMBers. I'll send out a HAMB notice the weekend prior. See you in a couple weeks.
Very cool! I don't think Big Olds would add much to the cacklefest but I could sure do an awesome smokey burnout to satisfy the crowds.
we'll be at Shell all week long too. We'll have my 53 chevy, my 39 chevy rat truck, a 54 chevy, a 46 ford rat truck and a 68 coupe deville.
Well. I'll have to cruise by the Shell station Tues through Fir and stop and say hi. Like I said when I started this post, I wont have the 61, I'll be in my 65 Galaxie, you guys arent going to throw rocks and bottles (empties, full ones would be ok ) when I stop by with that new of a car are ya? The Shell is on the East side of Woodward, correct? Heres a link to a pic of the Gal: http://www.usgear.com/v2od_galaxie.htm
