Can anyone tell me if I can swap in a later model V8 Flat head and T5 into my 38 with a V860? Will I have to change the rear end?

Dumb me -- I'd think it would be kinda great and novel to have a '38 with a V-60 in it.

(We ain't street racing like we used to . . .)

You will have to change the rearend to use a T5, have to convert to an open drive. You can put a later full size flathead and closed drive transmission in with the stock rearend but V8 60 cars had a 4:44 rear gear so should change the gears.

Thanks MAG I'm trying to decide what to do.
Stan, I agree but V860's are kinda hard to find parts for.

There are threads here to convert t5 to torque tube or you can change the rear end to open drive with '47 p/u parts. The Hot Rod shop in Idaho has a kit to do this also. Might be easier to get a Nova rear and hang it on parallel spring kit from Weedetr.
