I agree with everyone so far. When I looked at it I didn't see it any other way. 15" chrome wheels with spiders and the whites would be my only other choice. Although 22" boyds wheels with rubber bands would probably get you a magazine feature these days!
I was thinking some 30's with an electric tape wrap (instead of tires), and raise it about 12-15 inches. Good mother of God, have you guys seen this "look" lately?
I'm a youngster, and even I know it doesn't get much better than red rims and fat whites. Just drop it real low and maybe put on some fatter white walls and if you get bored look for a few sets of hub caps at the next swap meet.
Lower it and your done. or maybe add some skirts, shave the doors hood and fendertips and clean off the bumper guards. Craig
I used to run my Roadmaster with the caps removed and chrome lugnutz back in the old days, but if I'd had money to invest in wheels I would have run chrome reverse on it. That was later '60s.
damn that thing is clean. are you going to keep it for a while? LOL (just lower it and put some port-o-walls.)
Groucho, I find myself wondering why the 1st time somebody came out with the 24"+ size wheels on something he wasn't slapped back to reality? Those "gangsta" cars with the 30" wheels look like crap, and must ride even worse. I have a friend with a tahoe with 22" and I was amazed at how bad it rode. I can't Imagine even less tire! Let's get back to what looks good... I forgot about wires and thin whites...a classy look for a classy looking car!
If i see another set of red painted wheels i'm gonna fucking SCREAM. If i wanted a worn out, exhausted, overdone look i wouldn't have made this post. YUCK!
I think those Skylarks would be perfect wheels for that car since they are a Buick item. Wheel Vintiques sells repros (5x5 bolt pattern only), they're pretty sweet but pricey. 15x6 starts at (gulp) $575 per... http://wheelvintiques.com/shopsite_sc/store/html/page64.html Still, a lot cheaper than original 53-55 Skylarks, which are easy $1000+ if you can find 'em.
real chrome reversed with the wide whites. Lower it just a bit. And I mean REAL REVERSED, NOT THE SHIT THEY CALL REVERSED NOW
the 15's loked tiny so I got 17" by 8" wheels and a tire with 4" of sidewall height..... Also NIX on the whitewalls- that too damned MUSEUM'Y for my taste.....
