I put a dual carb/fenton setup on my 216 chevy. Both carbs were rebuilt. The car will idle, but only with the front carb choke plate closed. When you open it the engine's idle greatly increases. The front carb is also ****ing a lot more air than the back. What causes this? Any experiences with the same problems
I would start out checking the basics. Make sure you don't have any va*** leaks. Then back off both thottle plate adjustments, and make sure the are both closing, with the linkage disconnected. Make sure your idle mix screws are set the same, and at about 2 turns out to start with. Then fire it up (linkage still disconnected, be smart and ready to shut it off it the engine starts to race) and see if it idles properly now. You will have to adjust the throttle stops in equal steps to raise your idle speed and keep it running, then adjust your idle mixture, and reset the speed one more time. Your linkage could be part of the problem too. If it is the edelbrock linkage it will only work straight out of the box if both carb throttle arms are identical. If not it may hold one of them open a little, and you'll have to modify the linkage. It should allow both to close completely, and open at the same time. I dealt with all of these problems on my 235.
