I have 2 sets of front shock towers that came with my ‘40 Ford Business Coupe. One pair measures around 13” total length and the other pair about 14 1/2”. Which one would be correct for my car? And why are there 2 different lengths? Could one set be for a truck? New to this Forum and appreciate any help I can get.

The shorter mounts are most likely correct for your car....?
I know the '41-'48 mounts are 14-1/2" long.

When using those in a 40 be aware that they may hit the inner fender wells messing up the front sheet metal alignment. Have to make a spacer or tweak a bit to clear-have done many

you do know that these parts are aftermarket or from later model Fords. 40 Fords came from the factory with lever action shocks not tube shocks. The real issue here is which ones fit the car better? use those and get shocks that are the correct length for them

Yep--later Ford but bolt to same holes--as mentioned may hit inner fender panels-easy fix--try the short ones--last ones I used were the longer ones and cut them down even a bit shorter than the short ones

They require perch pins with an attachment on top -superior to aftermarket kits in my opinion.

For the lower shock mount just drill a hole in the axle between the perch pin and the kingpin at 90 degrees to them in the web of the axle , this is the way Aussie 40 Ford's had tube shocks from the factory if you want picks of the Aussie 40 set up send me yr email
