I have a great set of 33' chevy, pontiac headlights that I plan to use on my ride. They are clean, no dents, just rewired them. I need to resilver the reflector rings. Anyone know Who, Where, How much?
I use Eastwood Aluma blast on them-it works incredibly well! (I assume you are talking about the inside walls, right)
Steves Auto restorations does it. The people that make the 34 roadster bodies. They have a website but not sure what it is. Clark
try your area for a shop that resilvers mirrors they used to be everywhere. still many left. here in portland it's coast mirror. Steve has a great shop but I'd bet he sends them out too!
I re-silver reflectors if they are brass, but if the submetal is steel I avoid them. Too much work to do a good job. There is a product though for rejuvinating chrome, can't think of the damned name, which will put silver into scratches and cover light stuff. Made in Florida, that much I remember. It is basically silver nitrate in the solution that does the work. Very, very toxic. You don't want it on your skin.
Me too, the inside of my E&J's is yellowed and has some junk in them. Polisher, What is the process, is it just a wash in the solution or is it an electronic process like plating?
bttt I have a set of '37 Chevy reflectors I'd like to use, but they have the usual oxidation and discoloring. Should I try polishing the surface? What should I use? Or is it just a waste of time? Thanks, LSM
I've used Orergon Re-Tinners several times. I'm sure that's where Steve's restorations send his parts also. They are at 2712 N. Mississippi Portland Oregon 503-287-7696 The Wizzard
