The the GM version of the MOPAR A833, the MY6 4 sp OD, as used in 80s Chevy light trucks, has a "1/2 Chrysler" bolt pattern at the front of the case and requires a specific bell housing to use on chevy SBC engines. Has anyone adapted (successfully) this transmission to a "regular" bolt pattern chevy SBC bell housing?

  4. Some of them bolt directly to the chevy bell. There is a lot of info on line about these trannies, someone even made some simple adapters to use the 1/2 chrysler version on the chevy bell. There may be enough meat on a Lakewood to drill new holes. Do you need a bell?

I'd say a steel ****ter shield (weldable) would be the best bet to modify.

I just picked one up, complete with the factory Hurst shifter, need to check the front pattern.

I have one with the factory bell and the Hurst shifter. Studebaker (I have one) used a chevy 4 sp from '60-early '62 and bell housings for that application exist, but they have the standard Chevy trans. bolt pattern.
