Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by HEMI32, Aug 6, 2008.

  1. Here's a better copy of the photo used in the '68 Champion Spark Plugs advertisement (see post #69):

At the 1967 world finals Joe Davis drove the Davis & Ingram Jewel "T" AA/A to the Super Eliminator title when final-round opponent
Walt Marrs broke out by running .14-second under the national record with a 10.29. Davis’ winning time was a 9.11 on a 9.03 mark.

Chris's model is the benchmark. I got my decals from him and photos of his build to guide me, but with my limited experience there was no way I could match his build.

    I really like his work.
There are a couple minor differences but the big one is the wheelie bars.
Wes tried to get Joe to let Monogram make a model but Joe was reluctant. In later years I believe he regretted that decision.

Here is what I believe the first picture of the new Jewel "T".
No competition numbers on the blower.

  10. Just a bump of a very old thread . . . 'cuz I was grabbing a tool from one of my father's old tool chests and realized it has had a Jewel "T" decal affixed to the upper chest since 1968:
